Tomorrow is a chance for Ludvig Åberg to take the next step in his young career as he heads into a pressure‑packed Sunday with a slim 3‑shot lead and a total of eight golfers within five shots. Åberg will look to avoid disaster on a course that has it lurking around every corner.
For Ludvig, he’s had his close chances on the big stage, including multiple top‑5 major finishes. While he does hold a signature event win and two Ryder Cup victories, including being the only player ever to play in a Ryder Cup before a major, this could be a defining moment for the 26‑year‑old. In what many consider to be the “5th major,” and at times a springboard into the summer of majors, Åberg has a great opportunity in front of him Sunday.
A clean but quiet first round led into a near‑historic second round by shooting 9‑under. Today on moving day, though a modest 1‑under, he managed not to fall backward like so many others on the leaderboard. Still, Sundays are different, even for Mr. Chill, the man who doesn’t seem to lose his cool. At least he gets a little home cooking, staying in his own bed tonight.
For this blogger who grew up on Rory McIlroy but has been following Åberg since his Texas Tech days, tomorrow will have me maybe just as on edge as he could be. In fact, if I can take his nerves for him, I’ll gladly remove them from the equation if it helps him play well.
Already, two close friends have made the list for potentially putting it out there that it could be a stress‑free Sunday. We need to chill out and play this thing one hole and one shot at a time. With weather in the forecast, all bets are off. Though hopefully with golf expert Liam Blutman on our side we can get this thing done!

As Åberg looks to cement himself into the golf history books at TPC Sawgrass, we need positive vibes only for our Silent Swede to have the round of his life. It’s not gonna be easy, no one said it would be…but that’s why it’s the 5th major.
