Week 3 Heisman Contenders

Oh how quick the football season moves!!! It's something we have to cherish each Saturday, there's no doubt about it. Anyways, with us now a couple of games into the season, it's time to start seeing who is standing out as potential Heisman contenders. This is where the fun really starts as we go to battle for our own ball knowledge over the so-called media experts! Let's not forget ball knowers aren't ranked by the number of followers they have.

Early on in the season it is tough at times to see the difference between contender & pretender. With bigger teams going up against Bishop Sycamore rosters, the stats can be beyond inflated. You have to find a way to sift through the shit to find the diamonds! Right away, yes I understand Miami Florida has played two cupcakes, but also most of their schedule is going to be just that, so their stats are gonna be going wild. With all that being said, QB Darian Mensah & WR Malachi Toney are still studs. They will need to truly show it in the few primetime games, but no matter who is on the field I am confident in them being contenders.

There are some guys who have flexed their muscles though against elite competition. Ohio State WR Jeremiah Smith is that guy; even though his team fell apart, it's no fault of his play. He went off catching everything that went his way, this was a Heisman-type performance. The same can be said for Louisville's QB Lincoln Kienholz as he put on a show in a close loss to a top 10 team.

Then we have others who have performed against quality Power 4 teams, in Mississippi State QB Kamario Taylor & Notre Dame QB CJ Carr, both against respectable Big 10 teams. They have some dudes on the schedule later on, so we will see if they can continue to play at this level.

Lastly, we have the flyers. You always need the flyers! First up is Arizona State WR Reed Harris, who just torched what is considered to be a top SEC defensive unit in Texas A&M. And then our lone defensive player in Cal DB Kingston Lopa, who already has 4 picks & a TD against two power conference teams. Yes, both are clear long shots, but you gotta give credit where it's due!

We are still early on in the college football season, but as we move into Week 3 & conference play begins to ramp up, this thing is about to move so quick, so we have to start putting together these early contenders to see if they can pass the test of the Fall.
