Update: College Baseball RULES!

The anti-college sports dweebs have another L to carry around after this past weekend of the college baseball regionals. In what was three days of slams, top-ten plays, and generational upsets, college sports yet again showed they rule American sports.

On just this past Monday, we all, or at least myself, watched a tournament selection show where the “experts” lauded over national seeds' paths to an eventual College World Series. All led by what was being considered one of the century's greatest baseball teams in number one national seed 51-6 UCLA. A team that had not lost a series all year while basically going #1 wire-to-wire. For those who don’t know the format of the regionals, it’s double-elimination with four teams in each. So, in short terms: basically, don’t lose a series.

Well, to jump-start the action Friday, UCLA found themselves with four other national seeds dropping a game to a team that many, even announcers, probably couldn’t have named a player on until their prep sheet was in hand. Though UCLA's loss was a shocker, it somehow might not have been as bad as Auburn, the 4th seed in the entire tourney, losing by A LOT to a 22-28 Milwaukee team that was 5-23 at one point in the season. A team they are now playing today in a sudden-death Game 7.

Auburn got to that regional final, but UCLA's story came to a shocking end as they again matched up with a Saint Mary’s team in a now-elimination game, even taking the lead into the 9th inning before losing in extras to end their year by doing something they hadn’t all season: losing two games in a weekend. The number one pick, top pitching staff, & home-field advantage all weren’t good enough to even win two games in the tournament. Oh, & that Saint Mary’s team was clobbered twice by Cal Poly to be eliminated, btw…

These are just two teams; I haven’t even mentioned Little Rock advancing to the super regionals without a loss, St. John’s having Florida St. in a must-win doubleheader today, and Troy & Florida in a win-or-go-home today.

Aside from the madness of Cinderella, the tournament has had countless big moments, including twice extra-inning walk-offs by Ole Miss over Arizona State, a West Virginia Country Roads miracle to force a Game 7 today, & a bash bro matchup of Georgia Tech & Oklahoma, where GT, who is the 2nd overall seed, is on the ropes today.

All of this action has created a charge that if you don’t feel chills from watching, it’s time to have that yearly checkup, cause you ain’t living! College Baseball is showing the haters yet again it deserves much more attention & screen time cause the vibes are unmatched. If you somehow missed the weekend, it isn’t too late, as we now get seven win-or-go-home games with seasons on the line & a berth into Super Regionals as the prize.
