The dust has settled from the Big Game Classic & the Ziti’s upset win over defending champions The Experts. Now we turn to the first full week of Season 6 with three big-time matchups, including two brand new teams. Let’s take a closer look.
Also, if you haven’t seen already, we have the full season preview here:
Tuesday:
10 Chicago vs 8 Po’Boyz
To start the week off, we’re going to get our first look at one of the new teams in The Dozen. The Po’Boyz could be the team with the highest expectations among the expansion squads of Season 6. With T-Bob, Mintzy, & Kenjac, it feels hard to find a weakness right out of the gate.
Chicago, though, with newly acquired Steven Cheah, looks to bounce back after another season of disappointment. Could they follow in the footsteps of their Bears & surprise us from the jump?
Keys
How does T-Bob handle the bright lights of Dozen Trivia?
Look for the dynamic between Cheah & WSD... both have certain ways of finding answers.
Will Mintzy have working WiFi?
Betting Lines
Po’Boyz -2.5
ML: Po’Boyz -250 Chicago +220
O/U: 26.5
Top Scorer
T-Bob +310 Cheah +400 Mintzy +700
Prediction: Po’Boyz 13, Chicago 10
Thursday:
14 Hoagies vs 7 Ryders
We have the surprise team of Season 5, the Ryders, opening their season against an expansion team many feel will be the sleeper to take the league by surprise this year. The Hoagies are led by a Barstool power couple in TJ & Gia, both veterans and proven point-getters. Mixed in is Connor Griffin, who has played sparingly, so he shouldn’t feel the shock of the Dozen format.
The Ryders, though, bring back three vets & a dark-horse MVP candidate in Kelly Keegs. They are very well-rounded, and if Rico is on his game, they should be fairly dominant in this match. Really, the keys may come down to his performance, as his college sports knowledge could prove to be the difference.
Keys
Keegs vs Gia, two all-star caliber pop culture ball knowers, who comes out with the advantage?
Rico: will he be on his game, or will he fall into his own bit’s demise?
Does C-Griff bring anything to the table? He could challenge Rico in college sports, and if he does, we may have an upset.
Betting Lines
Ryders -4.5
ML: Ryders -500 Hoagies +550
O/U: 27.5
Top Scorers
Keegs -200 Gia +250 TJ / Rico +500
Prediction: Ryders 14 Hoagies 12
Sunday Night Primetime:
11 XYZ vs 5 Uptown Balls
In a matchup filled with big names left & right, this one will show us early what the new Uptown Balls roster is really going to bring to the table. Rone steps in to replace fan favorite Hannah Montoya and brings a strong stat line across his career. The hope for Balls fans is that he can be the missing piece to bring this once championship organization back to glory.
As for XYZ, they’re looking for an early-season jolt. After missing the playoffs last year, they come in under the radar. An upset out of the gates could be the momentum needed to get back into playoff talks. You have to think Uptown Balls will go on a run at some point, so XYZ could use this for power points late in the season.
Keys
Can Rone be what he once was on The Yak? His random & music knowledge may prove to be the difference.
Big Ev needs to be can’t-miss in college sports. If Uptown has a weakness, it’s college football, which Ev, of course, knows well.
Is Glenny Balls back to near-MVP form? Season 5 was a bit of a stinker for him.
Betting Lines
Uptown Balls -4.5
ML: Uptown Balls -550 XYZ +550
O/U: 28.5
Top Scorers
Tommy Smokes +100 Glenny Balls +250 Large +750
Prediction: Uptown Balls 15 XYZ 9
