Spoilers Warning: Dozen Weekly Recap

UPSET WEEK!!!!

What a week it was in the Dozen Trivia League. As the season begins to hit the home stretch and teams' chances to build a resume start running out, the true dogs came out to play this past week! A logjam around the 6–12 range is beginning to solidify, and with only 10 teams making it (if you include the play-ins) its a freakin' battle. Some teams are going to be sitting at home watching the playoffs. With June just around the corner, most teams maybe only have one more chance before Selection Day hits for the bracket!

Mostly Trivia Pulls Off Major Upset Over Booze Ponies

To some Dozen hardos, this one may have felt like a time machine...because this was the Ponies of old to start off the match. Mostly Trivia took full advantage of this, and by the time the Ponies woke up, it was just a little too late as they fell 13–12.

Now sitting at 5–2 on the season with the only live tournament trophy of 2025, this should still be enough to keep them out of the play-in range. BUT the bigger question is… have they lost their fastball? Since starting 4–0 and talk of an undefeated season, they’ve gone 1–2 and looked a bit off their game.

Surprisingly enough, they didn’t fall in the rankings yet. Still, they’ll need to figure it out before the first round in Chicago.

As for Mostly Trivia, this was a major moment for the new franchise. After taking some early season lumps, they’ve turned the ship around. Now at 3–2 with a top-3 upset under their belt, they have a very good case for the play-ins. This is the kind of team that, if they sneak into the 8th spot, is the one you do not want to see. Mark Titus, TJ, and Ebo have a really good balance of knowledge, and with the right mix of questions, could really do some damage. This upset proves they can and will play with anyone in the league.

Grinders Use Overtime to Stun Uptown Balls

Watch out, Dozen Trivia...the Coach has got his boys rolling!

Another new franchise to the league is making a run, including most recently an overtime win over Uptown Balls to put themselves very much in the play-in conversation. We all know, Jon Gruden knows how to win, and though they’re 2–3 on the season, their strength of record rivals anyone in the league.

With Liam Blutman breaking out of his early-season slump—including 6.7 points this past week, the Grinders are coming into form at the right time. Gruden has taken on two rookie Dozen players and coached them into a play-in spot if the season ended today. Most likely, they have one more match, which could decide their fate in year one.

Uptown Balls on the other hand take a rough hit but still sit at 3–1–1 on the season and in great shape to avoid the play-ins. A couple of misplays hurt them, including doubling Celebrity Mashup, I mean, come on, it’s Balls! They always double Baseball! Which then, of course, the baseball question was a freakin' gimme. But let’s stay positive, this team was very balanced. Hannah Montoya seems to be getting more comfortable each match (including 6 points and nailing her niche), which could be money come tournament time. Tommy Smokes & Glenny Balls know what it takes to win it, so Balls fans, I wouldn’t read into this loss too much. They’ll be a major factor come June.

Frankettes Too Smooth for Macrodosing

In what many are calling the calmest and smoothest match in Frankettes history, they improved to 3–1–1 on the season with a 17–11 win. The Frankettes' season has been marred by outbursts, miscalls, or no-calls...but this week it was the opposite. An easy Call-a-Friend from Jenks to start, and from there, pretty smooth sailing, with what may have been the chillest Frank the Tank we’ve seen, really maybe even over high Frank.

This win, as Jeff D. Lowe stated, all but takes them out of the play-in conversation, which is a huge advantage for the playoffs. Nick & KB looked sharp too, each scoring 7.7 points in the victory. We all know what this team is capable of when they’re locked in.

As for Macrodosing, the season looks to be all but done after this loss. If Mostly and the Grinders don’t pull off those upsets beforehand, they’d still be in the fight, but at 1–3–1 now, barring a miracle from themselves and others, the season looks cooked. The offseason will be full of questions. Arian Foster did have maybe his best game ever with 6 points, which could be huge going into next year. Big T & Mad Dog, though, may need to work on their communication, it’s hurt them in key moments this season.

A week to remember, as two new franchises pulled off amazing upsets to keep themselves in the fight—and an original team refound their form. We’re in store for a frantic finish these last couple of weeks. Also, Jeff D. Lowe informed fans there will still be an All-Star Week, which sounds like it’ll be held sometime in July or August after the season finishes. Fan voting has also opened for the season awards—so make sure to check that out and vote for your favorites to earn some accolades!
