This week, we saw the reveal of the MLB The Show 25 cover athletes, and with that, the rumor bus is officially on the freeway!

For the gamers out there, The Show has been one of the better-made sports games over the past couple of decades. But lately? It’s gotten stale...just like 2K and Madden. We’re all ready for a serious overhaul to the game we love.
Now, these are just rumors, but the word is that they’ve finally listened. A confirmed step in the right direction? The game is only launching on current-gen consoles. It needed to step it up because EA College Football has raised the bar for all sports games. Finally, something might break the whole yearly “same game, new rosters” model. Other sports games have gotten a serious gut check, and while College Football had the advantage of being gone for 10+ years, there’s an opportunity here for others to follow suit.
So instead of throwing out wild requests like we see all over social media, let’s start with three realistic changes that could boost The Show’s long-term playability this spring and summer.
1. Road to the Show: High School State Playoffs or College World Series
Instead of the usual batting and fielding practice with a random short series in an empty stadium, let’s get an experience that actually adds to our player's journey.
Imagine if The Show could license the Top 25 all-time college baseball programs and let us play through the College World Series before hitting the draft combine. The ping of your bat as Arizona State, Texas, LSU, North Carolina...all programs that have produced MLB talent, this would be unreal.

Or, take a page from Road to Glory in EA College Football and let us play through a high school state playoff tournament, trying to win a championship before becoming a first-round draft pick. Either option would be a massive improvement over the current minor league grind and would finally make Road to the Show feel like a real journey.
2. More Team, Season, Game & Career Records in Franchise Mode
As a big Franchise player, this has always been a tease. Right now, The Show only tracks a limited number of career records...but what about single-game, season, or career records for your Franchise?
Imagine having your team’s all-time records to chase and break, adding another level of attachment and personalization to your Franchise mode. It would be even better if they included MLB, AL, and NL single-game, season, and career records, making it feel like a true historical simulation.
Honestly, this isn’t even a major change, it’s something a single developer could probably knock out in a week using Baseball-Reference and AI to compile the stats. If KB & Nick can find 1910's baseball stats, so can someone at San Diego studios!
3. WBC or “Olympic” Rosters for Play Now
They’ve already had WBC players in the game before, so why not bring it back in a bigger way?
This would be more of a fun, side quest, a new mode to mess around with when you’re chilling with the boys, running a little round-robin tournament. Playing as a national team is always a treat, and they could easily include 6-8 teams that already have enough MLB players in the game.

If licensing is an issue, just do all-time international rosters, that would be a dope little bonus mode that would give players something fresh without requiring a major overhaul.
After the Road to the Show revamp, these changes aren’t even major, but they could add a personal touch to the game. The real goal? Long-term playability. We don’t want to get burnt out too fast.
Franchise Mode is already a great mode, and adding small features like these would make a huge impact on player excitement. The Show doesn’t need to reinvent itself entirely....but it does need to take a step forward instead of staying stuck in the “new rosters, same game” cycle.
Bet Recap: Wisconsin was never the play...1-4. YIKES! I did hit a nice parlay though.

All seem reasonable. Honestly I haven’t seen any details & couldn’t tell you the last one I bought, but I at least check them out time to time. Is ‘stadium builder’ a feature or getting upgrades? Could’ve been rumors I saw in the past. Surprised the CWS or High School Playoff hasn’t already been implemented.
Despite recently discovering who Macklin Celebrini is (who knew the #1 draft pick would be sick) and being a fan of his, I will be riding Kraken 🫡
