Matt LaFleur Needs To Figure It Out... And Fast

I wanted to wait a couple of days to write something about the situation brewing in Titletown, USA.
If you're confused about where Titletown is, that's where the 13-time World Champion Green Bay Packers are located.
Had you looked at X after the game on Monday night, you would've thought that the Packers losing to the Philadelphia Eagles meant the Chicago Bears automatically won the Super Bowl. Even though the Bears are 6-3 after defeating opponents with a combined record of 15-41-1, there is still plenty of season left, and the Packers have time to figure it out.
However, they have to move quickly... and most of what is holding them back has been attributed to head coach Matt LaFleur.
Despite looking at the coach's tablet in the middle of the game while the defense was on the field, nothing worked in a game that saw the Packers score just their second touchdown in two games.
Listen, I was a huge MLF guy when he first arrived, and it seemed like he had all the answers to the test. He helped Aaron Rodgers win back-to-back MVPs after Rodgers had looked like he was done. A guy who had 75-year-old Randall Cobb as his WR1 and went to Arizona on a short week in 2021 to beat the then-unbeaten Cardinals. The same coach who went into Dallas with the NFL's youngest team and whopped "America's Team" 48-32 and gave the 49ers all they wanted in the NFC Divisional Round. This man even made Malik Willis look like a competent starter for two weeks last year in place of an injured Jordan Love.
Make no mistake about it, Matt LaFleur is a good football coach. But the time is now to figure it the hell out.
Monday's game was a perfect example for the entire nation to see what Packers fans have been dealing with for 10 weeks this year in 2025. A coach who wants to coach a team that he doesn't have instead of the one that has been provided for him.
Instead of being able to enjoy the offseason acquisition of superstar Micah Parsons, Packers fans are now worried about putting up more than 7 points per game and watching LaFleur coach for his job after it was announced during the offseason that new team President Ed Policy was not extending the contracts of MLF or General Manager Brian Gutekunst.
Everyone saw it Monday night, the Packers kept trying the run game that wasn't working and hasn't worked all year, instead of putting the game into the hands of their franchise quarterback. By the time they allowed Jordan Love to try and pass the ball in the two-minute drill before halftime, he had only accounted for one net passing yard, per Tyler Brooke of Acme Packing Co.
There's so much more I could talk about, whether it's the inconsistency of the offensive line that the Packers spent millions on to "revamp", the hideous special teams from Rich Bisaccia again, or the fact that the team keeps sending out an injured kicker to attempt franchise-record-breaking field goals in November.
You have to trust the guy that the GM of the team paid money for, and that is Jordan Love. Everyone wants to establish a run game, but sometimes, you have to admit that it's not there and go away from it. Something he (LaFleur) has constantly refused to do this year. I know it's tough to want to air it out after losing guys like Jayden Reed, Tucker Kraft, Matthew Golden, Romeo Doubs (on Monday night), and having Christian Watson on a snap count after coming back from an ACL tear that occurred last season.
Everyone shares the blame. Love has delivered crushing errors, highlighted by a game-altering fumble right before halftime. The wide receivers, battered by injuries, were hit with another wave of drops on Monday night. Meanwhile, the offensive line has taken a noticeable step backward this year.
However, a head coach's job is to play the best players available. The NFL isn't high school sports where parent politics are involved. There is no reason you should be running out former WR now converted CB Bo Melton on the field in a crucial 4th down situation and throwing him the ball over Malik Heath, who has proven to come down with contested catches consistently.
Stop running the same plays on every 4th down, where the defense is legitimately calling out the play before it happens. If that's your best play with the game on the line, then it might be time to re-evaluate.
Gutekunst built this roster with Super Bowl aspirations in mind. The defense has been balling out and constantly bailing out the offense with stop after stop. I'll give you a tip on how you can improve the offense... THROW THE DAMN BALL.
Matt LaFleur ... the clock is ticking.
