Jerseys Might...Might Be BACK!

Guys, I have some really damn good news… jerseys may be back! With the college football season just around the corner, we are getting flooded with alternate uni drops, and it is not disappointing as teams are beginning to bring back SWAG!

For the youngsters out there, we used to be in a golden era of jerseys. After the Oregon Ducks went ham in the 2000s, the rest of college sports caught up in the 2010s with great, unique drops at insane rates. It seemed like every team had a Goodwill rack of jerseys and helmets for theme nights, throwbacks, and much more. It was a near-peak era of college football, with recruits making choices based on how good they would look at that school. I mean, true millennials know all about Nike Elites and Adidas three-stripe socks. Shit, I may still have my Notre Dame Ireland-themed ones somewhere!

Then, just like everything else, COVID killed it. Yep, don’t argue with me, we all know it and can admit it. In came this wave of "simplicity" and genericism that was, in all honesty, just a total bummer. We were admittedly heading toward a league full of Penn States, Alabamas, and USCs. Ugh, gross. Just take me out to the pasture.

BUT wait, we may be back in 2026! YEP! With Washington, Nebraska, Arizona State, and so many others bringing the HEAT! Now, they all aren't going to be winners… yes, we are looking at you, A&M. But see, that is also the beauty of uniform swag: sometimes there are clear swings and misses that are just as beautiful.

Now, I'm not sure if I can truly declare it’s back yet, but man, it’s getting close. With more teams dropping their nuts each day with these jersey drop vids on Twitter, it feels like we're almost there. This is what college sports need back, some swag on the field for kids to go crazy over!
