Going, Going, Gone.... X3! Joshua Báez Has Historic MLB Debut at The Friendly confines

History was made at The Friendly Confines of Wrigley Field on Saturday afternoon when the No. 3 prospect in the St. Louis Cardinals organization, Joshua Báez, made his Major League debut against the Chicago Cubs and stole the entire day of baseball with three home runs.

Báez came into the Show leading Triple-A in home runs with 34. He was hitting .256 with 90 RBIs, 21 stolen bases, and OPS of .901 in 103 games this year.

He wasted no time getting started with an absolute bomb off Matthew Boyd on the first pitch he saw to get out to an early 3-0 lead!

He became the first Cardinals player to homer on the first pitch of their MLB debut since Adam Wainwright (Yes, that same Adam Wainwright that called out Brandon Walker for his takes on the Cardinals a few weeks ago) did so in 2006.

Fast-forward to the 4th inning, and the young star did it again! This time, a solo shot to left field after getting a 3-2 changeup from Boyd.

He became the second player since 1900 to homer in his first two career at-bats in one game, joining Bob Nieman on Sept. 14, 1951.

Even Big Cat took to X to discuss that Baez might be a problem...

And then in the sixth inning he went ahead and made Major League Baseball history with a 368-foot shot over the right field wall to hit three home runs in his first three at-bats. All three shots came off Boyd... Yikes.

After he lined out to left field in the eighth, Báez ended up going 3-for-4 with three homers and five RBIs.

For a rebuilding Cardinals team that has hovered around .500 for most of the summer in the first year of a rebuilding season, the emergence of JJ Wetherholt, Jordan Walker, and now Joshua Báez sure makes look the futher look bright in St. Louis!
