Dozen Trivia Offseason has just begun

For Dozen Disciple’s, the long wait continues for the 2026 season opener. Who doesn’t find themselves subconsciously turning on YouTube to watch the old Thanksgiving episodes with Frank the Tank making his stuffing as the boys Nick & KB egg him on though? You see, while we hold onto the throwbacks, that isn’t the only Dozen content to hold us over till Super Bowl week.
Oh no no no, already the offseason has Jersey Jerry dropping bombs on us! Big names & teams being front-page news. While this may not be the only recap of the moves being made, already so much has happened it felt needed!
Bye Bye Bad Boy’s of Trivia…
Big Cat has decided it was time to step away from the game before it passed him by. The Yak leader & former Dozen Captain of the Year leaves such an imprint on this league, you feel we are losing a Steve Nash or Grant Hill type. Now why do I mention those names? As not only did their play speak volumes to their competitors, but they also felt like ambassadors for growing the game, which Mr. Katz did even with his team labeled the Bad Boy’s of Trivia. While The Yak did not secure a championship, they were regulars in playoff trivia, including Final Fours & in-season tournament victories!
You have to assume Big Cat isn’t stepping away completely from The Dozen. With the potential for new teams, could a GM position be in his future as he tries to achieve that elusive championship trophy from a front-office chair? Or could we see him join the league as an ambassador in an official aspect? As we all know, he’ll hope to stay involved in this great league.
Now The Yak also had two other prominent members though in Rone & Steven Cheah. They both are experts & hold very tight-knit niches, making them hot commodities on the market… AND they did not last long people! As Rone was quickly gobbled up (come on it was sitting there on a freakin’ platter… & yes I had to add platter haha!) by Uptown Balls, the former champions Tommy Smokes & Glenny Balls. Now unfortunately this means contract negotiations between Balls & Hannah Montoya must have gotten out of hand, assuming with her art-history niche the price was too much for the franchise to keep. Meanwhile Rone I'm sure took a more veteran-friendly deal as he searches for that championship season.
With the addition of Rone, Uptown Balls feels like an early Final Four contender. This is no knock on Montoya, as she could have brought the same buzz, but Rone’s experience may be exactly what they needed.
So what about Steven Cheah… you know, the well-known Chicago Cubs & Sky fan? Well of course he got scooped up (stretch, but like scooping gravy or mashed taters?) by Chief & White Sox Dave to hopefully bring that extra punch needed for Chicago. Again, not without a casualty, as Kenjac will hit the open free agency to create a new team. His expertise will be very sought out, but there may be questions surrounding his suitcase having a little too many team logos at this point.
As for Chicago, the NFL & NBA were clearly something they didn’t have a stronghold on; this should help shore up some crucial weaknesses. Still early on, they’re looking like a playoffs-to-bubble team. Especially with the rumors of potentially more teams to be announced soon…
Mark & The Markettes??
RIP Blutman & The Blutettes (2025–2025). After the shocking trading of Frank the Tank to the Gruden Grinders, it looked like Liam Blutman had found a home with Nick & KB, two of the most storied trivia players in the league. But over the past few months some rumblings began to go around the building about Mostly Trivia potentially calling it quits... combined with Liam’s price going up.
Well put two & two together… We got ourselves a Jerry bomb yet again as Nick & KB decided to let Liam go to join or form his own team & welcomed in Mark Titus. Yes Dozen Disciples, we have Mark & The Markettes! My first reaction? WATCH OUT DOZEN! This team is loaded top to bottom, as we already know of Nick & KB's odd strengths in trivia. Well now they have a CBB & NBA guy, leaving really only CFB/NFL as a slight disadvantage to worry about. Along with the new Uptown Balls, I see The Markettes as a Final Four contender! Now I am a little biased as even a beat reporter has a favorite team & it’s of course The Markettes.
WHEW… you are now all caught up. As we continue on though expect much more to come with new free agents Blutman, Kenjac, & Montoya. But let’s also not forget T-Bob and his nerd-verse knowledge, or if you tuned into the 100,000 Things stream, Wyatt’s abilities should be worth at least an entry-level contract on a team in need. Let’s also not forget Big T & Mad Dog, also now TJ & Ebo as well, all sitting at home waiting for a call. The offseason has just begun, so you may wanna turn on Jersey Jerry’s tweet notifications. If not, no worries, as I'm always here to wrap it all up (too early for a Christmas one but snuck it in).
