Day 2 Dozen Tournament Quick Recap(Spoilers)

We have two teams punching their tickets to Boston. The #1 and #2 seeds of the tournament flexed their muscles tonight, proving their status among The Dozen elites. The Experts and Booze Ponies took care of business, now leaving two former champions, Ziti and Minihane, in must-win situations tomorrow night. No matter what this is going to be a stacked Final Four in Boston, no matter who fills out the remaining two spots.

First, let’s get into the losers bracket:

Well this morning on Ronedotcom The Yak not only guaranteed a win but said retirement was on the table with a loss. On the other hand, The Ryders felt loose and came out ready, jumping out to a 6-point lead. It looked like we might’ve seen the last of the Yak in The Dozen Trivia League. Could it be true...the end of the bad boys?!?

Then stepped in: CHEAHVP.

After all he had to hear was two days of chatter about his historic bad tournament performances, he showed up big time with 10.7 points, keeping their season alive for one more match! NO RETIREMENT!...for now.

So yes it was a tough loss for the Ryders, but to make the tournament in their inaugural season is a huge accomplishment, and they’ll be an interesting squad to watch next year.

Retirement whispers were the theme of the morning...

After yesterday's horrific loss Frank the Tank had rumors swirling that he might not show today, and even if he did, it could be his last match. But when gametime arrived, Frank was there...though still clearly dejected from yesterday’s loss.

The hangover was real, as Uptown Balls jumped out to a commanding 6-point lead early. Then Frank got the boys going, and they finally broke through in the bonus round (their first tournament bonus win). The BIG MO had flipped and they looked to have found it again, classic Frankettes!

From that point on, it was domination, with the old school Frankettes winning with ease, 12–6. They now move into a win-and-you’re-in matchup for the Final Four tomorrow night.

Now we can only wonder, and check Mets scores tonight....seriously though which Frankettes will show up tomorrow night?

Over in the winners bracket...

In a slugfest between Minihane and the Booze Ponies, it came down to a buzzer-beater walk off in the last round from the Ponies to secure their spot in Boston. Riding the vibes to the final four for a second straight year!

If you’re coming next Thursday, this is a HUGE win. The Ponies are live show darlings and just pure fuel to the fun meter.

As for Minihane, they now get one more chance to punch their ticket, going up against the Yak. Plain and Simple: They’ll need more from Klemmer and Robbie Fox if they want to get past the bad boys.

Two clinched tonight though and...that other ticket went to the Experts, and it wasn’t even close.

Brandon Walker is sharp as hell right now boys, not missing a beat as they extend their win streak to 11 straight...mirroring Coastal Carolina, who’s riding a 26-game win streak in the CWS.

Right now, the Experts are the clear favorites in Boston next week, no doubt about it.

As for those who they beat.... Ziti, they now get one final chance to defend their title, taking on the Frankettes. They’ll need to be locked in, because both teams feel this is a very winnable match. And without a doubt a must-watch.

Another big day of trivia, we’ve got two spots filled, and tomorrow night we’ll finalize the bracket for Boston.

Whether it’s Minihane or Yak, Ziti or Frankettes, it’s going to be a legendary Final Four.

Jeff D. Lowe deserves a round of applause for this new tournament style, giving us so many more incredible moments and damn good trivia.
