15 Years of One Direction

One thing about me is that I am and always will be a Directioner. My friends and I watched every single video that was put out about them when we were in middle school: video diary, auditions, the adventurous adventures of one direction. Just everything. They were even my very first concert. I saw them on the Take Me Home Tour in 2013 when 5SOS was opening for them, and I still consider this my biggest flex. I love them (present tense).

Anyway, I have gathered you all here today because yesterday, July 23, 2025, was 15 years since One Direction Was formed. Harry, Louis, Niall, Liam, and Zayn all auditioned for the X Factor as solo artists and came out as my favorite boy band and (if I may) one of the most influential boy bands in history.

Let me take you back to July 23, 2010. I am freshly 11 years old going into junior high in a month. I go to my best friend's house for a sleepover, as I did most nights in the summer growing up. As soon as I walked into her room she said, "Have you seen this boy band yet?" and showed me the video of them singing Torn at the judge's house. I have been hooked since. We then spent the next days, months, years consuming everything One Direction. We became those girls that had One Direction posters covering every single inch of our bedroom walls.

We even ended up making our own video diaries with our other friends thinking we were going to get famous off them lol. All of my best memories growing up usually end up having One Direction attached to them in some way or another so they will always be a part of my life.
It's been a long time since 2010 and a lot of things have happened: Zayn left, the band went on "hiatus" on January 13, 2016, and we tragically lost Liam in October. I know it will never be the same after Liam's unexpected heartbreaking passing, but I still keep hope for the 11-year-old girl I once was that the remaining members of the band would come together at least 1 more time.
I literally cannot believe it has been 15 years; it feels like yesterday. I know that was very cliche of me but it's so true. Catch me listening to them on repeat for the next week. Oh, and you already know that if they announce a reunion concert, I will go into major debt to go see them. Long Live One Direction.

xoxo
