Week 2: The Dozen Preview

Coming off of an exciting week of matches with potentially new stars in the making as the Po’Boyz showed out in their debut, now we turn to another fabulous week of trivia. I won’t go into too much detail of the previous week in case some are still playing catch up on the matches.

Also, until more teams get involved, I won’t be giving the MVP & Rookie ladders just yet. I think it’s important to get more context. Though Kelly Keegs burst onto the scene as an early strong MVP contender. Let’s see who we have this week.

Tuesday Night

15 Sabre (0-0) vs 4 Minihane (0-0)

Well, Minihane will start the season without their captain & from all reports will go with just the duo of Robbie Fox & Chris Klemmer against Sabre in their franchise debut. Klemmer & Fox have the ability to carry on the tradition of winning, but watch out for an early season upset as Liam, Mad Dog, & Meek Phil are not going down easy. All 3 have strong categories that will challenge Minihane without a doubt.

Keys

  1. MLB: Meek vs Klemmer, who can show the true elite ball knowledge

  2. Can Meek handle the lights of the Dozen Trivia League?

  3. How does the duo do without their captain leading the way?

Odds

Minihane -2.5

ML: Minihane -250 Sabre +275

O/U: 29.5

Top Scorers: Klemmer +300 Liam +550 Mad Dog +750

Prediction: Sabre 15 Minihane 12

Wednesday

12 Red Team (0-0) vs 8 Markettes (0-1)

The Markettes are back after the Big Game Classic drubbing they took from Ziti. Many felt this team’s talent was top tier in the league, but unfortunately game one did not show it one bit. Now they face a team making its debut with three strong vets in Dante, Big T, & Jack Mac. This one could get close if Markettes can’t find some cohesiveness sooner rather than later.

Keys

  1. Who takes charge for Red Team? Last year Big T struggled as a captain.

  2. Can Nick & KB work without Frank?

  3. Does Red Team handle the bits coming their way? Jack Mac notoriously fell victim to one in the past.

Odds

Markettes -4.5

ML: Markettes -500 Red Team +500

O/U: 30.5

Top Scorers: Nick +350 KB +550 Dante +900

Prediction: Red Team 16 Markettes 13

Sunday BIG Matchup

9 Grinders (0-0) vs 3 Booze Ponies (0-1)

The Grinders Frank The Tank era begins with a HUGE one, as the Booze Ponies may be feeling a little early season desperation trying to avoid an 0-2 start. If Frank is on his game this can be a sneaky title contender Grinders squad, but will the gamble pay off as we have seen the negativity he puts on himself hurt squads in the past?

Keys

  1. FRANK. Plain & simple.

  2. Can the Booze Ponies recapture the magic of last season?

  3. Will Jake Malasek be affected by the strong presence of The Tank?

Odds

Booze Ponies -3.5

ML: Ponies -350 Grinders +310

O/U: 31.5

Top Scorers: Dana Beers -110 Jake Malasek +250 Frank The Tank +500

Prediction: Grinders 17 Booze Ponies 16

Yes, you read all those predictions right, it will be a week of upsets as all higher ranked teams just feel vulnerable at this moment. Of course this is why we trivia, so make sure to tune in each night live to see who takes down who in this week of The Dozen Trivia.
