Survivor 48: Episode 1 Recap

ree

Alright let me start off by apologizing for being a complete moron thinking this started last week. But hey, one of the best abilities is accountability so hand up, that's on me. Let's move on.

So much shit happened in this episode so lets dive right in.

Right off the bat, the reaction videos of the contestants getting the call was awesome. They need to show that at the start of every single season, it's great.

Alright, I don't wanna sound too cocky already, but boy did I nail that Purple tribe domination in my preview blog along with a few other things that I will mention later on (https://www.barstoolbreakdown.com/post/survivor-48-preview).

It'll be interesting to see if Purple can keep it tight at camp before it all falls apart at the merge because it was too easy for them in that first challenge. No one even came close, and again in the actual immunity challenge but we will get to that later on.

As is tradition, someone gets hurt in the opening challenge - even though Kevin didn't get severely injured, it's just always bound to happen no matter the season. Even if the opening challenge was a card game of war, someone would get a papercut or a card would shoot up from the shuffle and poke someone's eye out.

But Kevin did redeem himself immediately in that challenge against Kyle. By the way, Kyle, what the fuck was that? How on EARTH do you just shatter the glass in that challenge? And then you become the nice guy to help him out? Yeah that won't bite you in the ass down the road.

And poor Kevin coming back to camp and being manipulated right off the bat. The next Andy?

I cannot put my finger on Thomas. He's either going to be a game wrecker or a sheep until the end. He has too many alliances already with Bianca and the "California Girls." That is absolutely going to bite him in the ass, especially since he will have to either comply with Joe or face the consequences of going against him, Shauhin and Eva.

Green tribe sucks - I'll come back to this.

I cannot believe I'm about to have to say this yet again. Well actually, yes I can. STOP FUCKING TELLING PEOPLE ABOUT IDOLS AND CLUES YOU IDIOTS!

"Oh but Ryan, I want everyone to know I'm loyal and they can trust me."

Get outta here with that shit. You're playing a game and everyone there wants the same thing that you want and would screw over their mother to win. Don't tell anyone anything so that you can pull off a big move. Especially you, Sai. Now you have a HUGE target on your back. Every single person in your tribe knows you have an idol, and if I'm on your tribe, I'd go against every single bone in my body telling me not to and volunteer to go on a journey to tell the news to the other tribes. I'm singing like a canary.

Absolutely love the power duo of Eva and Joe, but Joe seems like he's going to be a sneaky villain this season which would be epic. However, I do believe that he will either get screwed over by Eva or he will take a fall to let her get to the end somehow.

I have nothing to say about the orange tribe other than maybe a romantic interest between Kamila and Kyle and the fact that Kamila flipped the rest of the tribe against Charity for literally no reason at all.

Dave seems cool, Chrissy has a good cut to her jib. That's all I got on the Orange tribe.

In the immunity challenge, Purple dominates again. Wasn't even close, they rock. I like everyone on that tribe so far. If they can keep a tight knit core group and keep the group together to the merge, someone on that tribe will win it all.

But we need to stop with the same cookie cutter challenges here, Mr. Probst. I love this show but the physical aspect followed by a puzzle for every. single. immunity. challenge. gets super old real quick. I know you kind of have to do that in the beginning, but maybe if they just build a tower of blocks to reach someone and drop their flag or swimming and shooting the balls into the baskets again. Idk, something needs to change.

Alright let me get back to the Green tribe.

Every single one of you are morons. Sai, you keep that shit to yourself. I know that Justin was with you, but at least try to keep him quiet when you find it. Absolutely insane move. I have no clue how she survived tribal with every single person knowing what she had. Way too arrogant, playing way too hard way too soon, you all have to flush that idol immediately. And Steph, how in the BLUE HELL do you play your shot in the dark in the first tribal? I get it, you think you're going home, but you can't go down without a fight. Literally one person ever (Caleb in season 45) has gotten that. Absolute bozo move. Good riddance.

Also called Steph being out by day five so score one for Ryan.

All in all, pretty good start to the season. So much shit happened in that two hour window which I really hope is brought back down to an hour and a half because my head is spinning. But this season seems like it could be really good. I don't remember a premier that entertaining in quite a while.

Side note, the official Twitter of Survivor hasn't tweeted since November of 2023 - crazy - so I cannot find any clips of this episode anywhere - other than this clip of what seems like Jeff took a huge faceplant during the immunity challenge.
