Noah Kahan, The Great Divide Review

FINALLY!!! Kahan Krazies, we have our new full-length album release. All the teasers, live songs, and guest spots that held us over are no longer needed. Noah Kahan’s new album, The Great Divide, dropped at midnight, and I am here to give you the inside scoop on his new sound.

With two singles already out before this full drop, including the title song "Great Divide," which was a banger release to draw us into his new album we have 15 new songs to dive into. I will give you my top songs of the album and then the easy skips… if any!

Alright, already having the album on repeat, initial reactions are: Noah has done it again! It was very hard to whittle it down to just five of the best. I am excluding the two original singles, though I think they deserve flowers as well.

I don’t feel any “easy skips,” but two songs that I’m still trying to fully vibe with off the jump are:

• Paid Time Off

It just isn’t clicking for me. The lyrics are okay, but the sound just feels a bit lesser than others on the album.

• Deny Deny Deny

This one isn’t bad either, just a little too poppy for my taste. It doesn't have enough edge like I feel and hear with other songs on the album. But I could see this one going big, as it fits the vibe.

5. Doors

This is just the classic sound of Kahan that we all fell in love with. We already got cuts and pieces of this one all over TikTok, but the full listen is somehow still robust and deep. His writing shows strong as this one has “big next radio single” written all over it.

4. Spoiled

This is a great sound with a cool story behind his lyrics. This is just one of the many on this album that you can chill to and even relate to. It also gives insight more into where Noah is in his life.

3. All Them Horses

A storytelling masterpiece that gives you that slow-burn sound. This is a classic in the making; if I had to compare it to another of his, I would say “Forever.” It is just his ability to tell you a story at its finest with a beautiful tune.

2. Haircut

This is just that perfect Noah Kahan listen, it really gives me “False Confidence” type of shit. I love the chorus; it is catchy but not too poppy. I don’t wanna give away any lyrics, though, as I know it’s important to hear them first for yourself.

1. Willing & Able

Hands down the masterpiece of the album. Anyone who fades this song just doesn’t know Kahan, in my opinion. You feel it in the lyrics and the sound; his inflection is so pure at the right moments. It’s this album’s “Paul Revere” a mandatory listen anytime, every time.

Kahan has given us something well worth the wait here. The edge he has on this album is still true to the sound we all fell in love with, but with an added element of his new life. As the weather changes, this is the album you want to crank up on a drive to nowhere in particular with the windows down.
