Mizzou Releases New Throwback Jerseys in Honor of 100 Years of Memorial Stadium

A wise man by the name of Coach Day (Barstool Breakdown Coach Day, not Ryan Day) once said "jerseys may be back" and on Thursday morning, that continued to be true when Mizzou football announced their new throwback jerseys celebrating 100 years of Memorial Stadium this upcoming Fall.

The Tigers will wear the jerseys on September 19 versus Troy.

Right away, I love the six columns on the front of the helmet. And if you don't know, The Columns are Mizzou's signature landmark on campus. They've been standing since the mid 1800's and remained standing after a fire burnt down the rest of Academic Hall.

The stripes on the side I also love. I know people will think this looks like Colorado, Vanderbilt, Purdue, etc., but this is the Mizzou gold that most of the diehard fans know and love. Not whatever yellow they wear today.

Of course, the signature block M (Yes, Mizzou has the block M and had it before Michigan) is a stunning look always and this is a style we haven't really seen on uniforms.

For nearly 50 years the Mizzou football team wore black helmets with an M on them. From the incredible successes of the 1960s teams, through the dark days of the 80s and 90s, to the resurgence under Pinkel in 2007, each Tiger squad wore a black helmet with an M.

My one complaint would be the pants are a little bland, and I wish there was some sort of stripes.

Let's see what College Football expert Liam Blutman and others had to say about the uniforms:

Overall, I would rate these a 8.6 and I took off my black and gold glasses while making the ranking. It's not overdone like some of the alternate uniforms that have been released, and pays homage to the True Sons that have come before the 2026 team.

They're going to look so beautiful with the new North End Zone project being officially complete, too.
