Coach Day's College Football Top Players: Wide Receivers

We are so close, only 48 hours from the start of the FBS college football season, and our season preview is getting into offense as we look at the top wide receivers in college football today. Also, for those like me needing some football, the FCS is here to save us with a nice little appetizer to Week 0 with some ball on TONIGHT!

Alright, let's unpack the WR position here. First off, the list at 10 starts with a name that many around the nation may not know, but former lacrosse national champion Jordan Faison has been one of Notre Dame's top guys for a few years. With his focus completely on football now, he has reportedly taken it to another level. The next three guys are really a group of flashes from the past two seasons, as Florida State's Duce Robinson, Alabama's Ryan Williams, and Texas A&M's Mario Carver at times have looked like first-round talents. Though they also became ghosts out there at times, they are still among the most talented players in college football.  

Now, the true debate has to be with our top three names. If the rankings were based off camp stats, Texas incoming transfer Cam Coleman would undoubtedly be in the top spot, but until it is shown consistently on Saturdays, it's hard not to put Miami's Malachi Toney and Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith ahead of him. To me, until proven otherwise, Smith is the unquestioned No. 1 WR in the country. Of course, a new season means new possibilities, but until then, Smith is the man everyone is chasing.

This year's WR group is going to be pushing for Heisman consideration, there is just too much talent out there not to. Now, who takes it feels like the bigger question with the top-end talent so stacked. Early on in the season, we get a nice 1 vs. 3 matchup in Austin that could tell us a lot.
