Barstool After Dark: Teamwork is Pinwork

We are heading to the lanes for a little redemption this Tuesday for Ohio’s Tate and a cast of characters as they attempt to get that all-elusive perfect bowling score of 300. Last year, outside elements cut the squad’s bid short, leaving a sour taste for the After Dark crew. As we know, Stoolies were also very disappointed in the challenge being cut short. This time the lanes will be rolling until perfection is achieved.

There is a lot to break down here for the stream. The team will be working toward that perfect score in a scramble fashion, but with the twist Tate mentioned above. With 12 people bowling, they will go through each round searching for a strike from at least one of the bowlers.

This is where things get wild: after each successful round with a strike, the team must then eliminate the bowler who got them to the next round. If multiple people bowl a strike, the group will have to decide who may have gotten lucky compared to who could actually pull it off again.

As he alluded to, they will need to be surgical with who they take away each time...IF a choice is even there. Either way, the idea is that the further you go, the weaker the team gets.

Theoretically, this could make for a long night for the After Dark crew. When asked about the challenge ahead, Danny Conrad, leader of the Conrad Comrades said, "Not fully sure, but I’d say about 4.5 hours." With a marker of 4.5 hours, does that set the bar for the over/under, or could we have an all-nighter on our hands, chat?

The Power Rankings: Who Do You Want on the Line?

With a team challenge, it all comes down to who has game. Before we even think of diving into the length of the challenge, so let’s look at the power rankings. An all-star squad has been put together with names like Steven Cheah, Diotche, Danny Conrad, Gia, Ebo, Content Connor, and more.

To stay on theme with After Dark, this list has a twist: it’s ranked by who you want to see most with the perfect score on the line. Being low on this list isn't a bad thing, it just means you’re likely a good bowler or have calm nerves.

  • Starting from the bottom up: For Mazzarati Mike and Gia, you just have to think logically, they gotta be good bowlers, so they may not even make it to the final spot. I don't see "blow-up" potential here, and the chat isn't likely to mount an army against them.

  • The Athletes: Then you have a string of athletes from Ebo to Diotche. All of these guys played college sports; they are more likely to have the clutch gene needed to hit the final shot with ease and no breakdown in sight.

The Top 6: The Content Gold Mine.

  • 5th & 6th (The Dark Horses): Danny Conrad considers himself a decent bowler, so the confidence is there. Plus, he’s a regular, and the redemption story from last week’s early exit makes for great streaming. Feits meanwhile, I think, is a "crashout" candidate. The chat won't be against him, but the potential for a classic outburst is always high.

  • 4th (The "Family" Favorite): We hit the elite stream tier with "Content Connor" Griffin (not to be confused with the Pirates' Konnor Griffin, of course). His Penn State attitude might have us rooting against him, but then again he’s "family" and has a love for Lego titties, which pulls us right back in.

  • 3rd (The Wildcard): The top three are unflappable, starting with Steven Cheah. He brings the unpredictability factor, he could project full confidence in hitting the shot, and it could go literally any direction from there.

  • 2nd (The Host): By the narrowest of margins, we have the host himself, Ohio’s Tate. We can already hear the "spectates" from the chat. This is the chat’s best moment or worst nightmare staring us in the face. Tate ending the stream would be an all-timer, but him falling short would feed so many chatters' families for months.

  • 1st (The All-Star): At the top is Chef Donny. We expect him to be an all-star, likely accompanied by many "glurch" questions in the chat (check the newest A New Untold Story before the stream, please!).

Let me just set the scene: the stream is on the line, and Mark Titus strolls in to sit front row just as Donny throws a gutter ball! Could we be so lucky?

The lanes will be full of great moments Tuesday night, so clear your schedule and get the snacks ready. With a stream full of unpredictable twists and turns, we could be in for a quick two-hour sprint or an all-nighter with a photo finish.

Tune in to see it all play out Tuesday night starting at 8pm ET / 7pm CT live on YouTube.
