Barstool After Dark: Perfection on the Show?

We are back in the gaming world...why? Well, I wish I could tell you. Maybe Lucas is truly just that sick & twisted, or he just plain hates Ohio’s Tate. For those who are a bit confused, the last time we hit the controllers it lasted three days, as an all-hands-on-deck stream worked toward winning a natty (which is not an easy feat, I’m currently in Season 3 with UMASS and fighting for my life). I mean, who can forget the Miracle in Morgantown! Anyways, still that’s the past, this is the now.

With the World Series coming off its own lengthy “stream,” the New York boys, Meek Phill, Tommy Smokes, & of course well known GM Chris Klemmer will be joining the After Dark crew for a little MLB The Show action. As a squad, they’ll attempt to throw a perfect game with one pitcher. So basically, no bullpen games, which is an important point, as stamina drains fast on All-Star difficulty (by the way, that’s the level they’ll be playing on). Smokes has already mentioned his lengthy hiatus from gaming, and Tate says he’s never played the game before. So, the boys are hot out the gates.

This could be a perfect storm situation, as I really only play three video games yearly... EA CFB, Golf, and MLB The Show. Being someone who logs, at times, an embarrassing number of hours, I feel like I’ve got a good grasp on the odds of this happening. So, let’s take a look…

Okay, I know what you’re thinking right off the jump... 500 games is insane! BUT they wouldn’t be playing full-length games. You’ve gotta imagine at least 200 will end within the first three innings. In fact, 500 might even be low.

Throwing a perfect game isn’t just tough for pitching, it’s the fielding too. For those who haven’t played before, that’s most likely going to be their Achilles’ heel. Whipping it around the diamond in this game is no joke!

While I think there are only about five pitchers they should look at, I still think in desperate times different guys will get used. So O/U 10.5 used still seems pretty fair. Tarik Skubal should be #1 as he’s a workhorse, but Paul Skenes’ velocity could be the go-to in any pinch!

The one I’m sure we all want to talk about is time… oh yes, how long will it take? Well, for starters, I’ve played this game about 75 hours this year and did pretty well but... I threw only one no-hitter and zero perfect games. Though I came close a few times, the big barrier was pitcher fatigue. They’ll need quick innings early on! I didn’t give an official O/U on time, but less than 5 hours or more than 12 just feels right... just the sweet spots, you could say.

As you look down the board, there come some more “prop” bets. Some feel like mortal locks, while others you may want to tread lightly on, maybe just a half unit or something. It just depends on how we’re all feeling. No unit shaming here! The last one though not the best odds, could be the lock of the century... am I right chat?

Whatever the odds may be, the crew is in for a tough one, still not a full season of perfection, just 9 innings. The belief is strong, and with three baseball wizards like Meek, Klemmer, and Smokes, what could possibly go wrong?

We all know how level-headed Meek and Klemmer are, they never get egged on by anyone, especially not by a big board of internet chatters staring them down for multiple straight hours or anything. NAHHHH, this should be a fun time, good vibes and just the crew gaming together.

You know... a classic, can’t-miss Barstool After Dark.

Tonight, 8 PM ET / 7 PM CT.
