2025 MOVIE HYPE METER: FEBRUARY EDITION

To go off the January hype meter for movies, I present to you February! Honestly, it's a pretty decent month for movies coming out this year.

LOVE HURTS

Director: Jonathan Euseibo
Cast: Ke Huy Quan (The Goonies, Everything Everywhere All At Once), Ariana DeBose (West Side Story, Wish), Marshawn Lynch (NFL)
Release: February 7th

I am so happy about the Ke Huy Quan resurgence after growing up watching him in The Goonies and Indiana Jones. The stunts in this movie look amazing and practical which always keeps me entertained but the big takeaway from the trailer is this: PUT MARSHAWN LYNCH IN MORE MOVIES!!!

BRIDGET JONES: MAD ABOUT THE BOY

Director: Michael Morris (House of Cards, Better Call Saul)
Cast: Renee Zellweger (Bridget Jones's Diary, Chicago), Leo Woodall (White Lotus)
Release: February 13th

Bridget Jones is getting a fourth movie! Now I've only seen the first and I did enjoy it but I don't know if there were as many fans rallying for a fourth one in the year of 2025. But it will still be solid and I'm sure Leo Woodall will ascend to heartthrob status as he's playing the love interest.

HYPE METER: 4.5/10

CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD

Director: Julius Onah (The Cloverfield Paradox, Luce)
Cast: Anthony Mackie (Hurt Locker, Captain America: Winter Soldier), Harrison Ford (Star Wars, Indiana Jones)
Release: February 14th

This movie will make or break how I view the MCU...until Fantastic Four comes out. But in all seriousness, the MCU has largely been a two-pack of ass since Endgame came out outside of a few (out of MANY) projects. Anthony Mackie as Captain America should be great but HARRISON FORD IS PLAYING THE RED HULK!?!?! We better be getting savage Hulk back.

THE MONKEY

Director: Oz Perkins (Longlegs)
Cast: Theo James (Divergent, The Gentlemen), Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black, She-Hulk)
Release: February 21st

This movie looks scary as fuck. But I will be there simply for Theo James and ELIJAH WOOD!!

THE GORGE

Director: Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange, The Black Phone)
Cast: Miles Teller (Whiplash, Top Gun: Maverick), Anya Taylor-Joy (Queen's Gambit, Furiosa)
Release: February 14th

Two of the best younger actors playing snipers guarding a "gorge" that's rumored to be Hell?! Yeah, I will be there on Opening Day.
