Work Day Discussions, Which Team Above All?
Alright, so a weird day of work filled with review games and downtime as my students get out of their ASVAB testing (military aptitude test kind of...). Well, besides the review game domination display I have put on over multiple classes, we also got into some sports debates (maybe I should start another debate club!)... of course. The topic came up among us full sports fanatics: which team of yours do you want to see hoist the championship trophy the most?

This is a really good question, as some feel tied to their colleges, others are pro sports fans till they die, and then there are the individual sport athletes, we have tennis and golf fans strictly. They can easily stick to their one sport, but what about us who watch it all, go diehard for our college teams, pro squads, and our golf guys? This is where the question formed: how would you rank your most desired championships?
It's a freakin' really good question, too. IF you had a sports genie drop in your lap and say, "Hey, I can give only ONE of your fanhoods true glory," which one are you throwing out there? For some with many chips under their belt, this may not be as hard, until the genie adds that only this team can win it all for the rest of your life... WOAH! IT JUST GOT EVEN BIGGER! Anyways, this is why I love weird days at work, 'cause these kiddos can really come up with the hard-hitting shit! After great personal debate, I have my rankings of the teams I want to see win the most!
My Golfers: Rory McIlroy & Ludvig Åberg (PGA)
Okay, I love golf, but to me, it's a weird sport where you can still be dialed in and watch even if your guys aren't winning majors! Also, Rory has already gotten so many that I've seen; really, this one would just suck for Ludvig not getting one. But in golf, countless top 5s still make for a great time.
Arizona Diamondbacks (MLB)
This is the last easy one, they already have a championship... yes, the only one of my teams I have ever seen win it all... it's sad, I know, you don't need to remind me! Since they already have one in my life, they are the easy last place of my teams. Also, it's so easy to watch bad baseball; I think it's much harder to watch the other sports suck.
Seattle Kraken (NHL)
My newest fanhood, which is why as of now I would put them at 3. I think there just isn't as much pain and desperation built up at this time with my Kraken. Now, maybe if this question comes up a decade from now, they could be sneaking up the leaderboard. I do love hockey, and it is tough to watch your team suck for 82 games a season, but still, the agony just isn't filling me up yet!
Notre Dame Football (NCAAFB)
Alright, now we are on the toughest call I have to make; the margin between 1 and 2 is razor-thin! Both of these teams I have been a fan of for almost 30 years, since I could first remember what sports were! Though Notre Dame has championships in their history, none were during my fanhood, so seeing one from them would be a game-changer since they have been runner-up multiple times, leaving me hanging.
Gonzaga Bulldogs (NCAAB)
Basketball is my sport, and March Madness is the best postseason tournament, hands down! To be able to see my Bulldogs get their first-ever championship in the toughest tournament of all time... I mean, my dog's name was Gonzaga. This has to be the deciding factor: if I had to choose one team, it would be the Zags!
These are the days that remind you why you teach, as the kids can even get you thinking, and it doesn't always have to be about the class or the school. The worlds of blogging and teaching found a way to collide today, and I do not mind it one bit! So now I give you the question, which team if you could only choose one is your championship squad?
