Week 8: Dozen Trivia Preview

We have a new number one in the Dozen! As we head into the eighth week of the season, we have the first change in the #1 rankings as the Booze Ponies took care of Ziti with ease, freeing the way for the Experts to take the spot on top. Could it have been a Final Four preview? Maybe, as Ziti always turns it up a notch in playoff trivia. The rest of the week gave us some lopsided games, including the worst in Dozen history by the Experts. We now have a new week of matchups and some desperate teams looking for a win to stay in the playoff race.

Tuesday Night

#11 Sabre (1-2) vs. #9 Chicago (1-2)

Yes, it’s not even April, but this one feels like a must-win for both teams as they cling to their playoff hopes. Sabre jumped out of the gates on fire with a major upset, but since then, they have been leaking oil badly. Chicago is a little different; they look to be coming together a bit. Right now, both teams need wins or a lot of points. Both would go a long way in clinching a playoff berth. Sabre, of course, is a new franchise looking to find their inner Vegas Golden Knights and make a run at the chip.

Keys:

1. Meek Phil: He has been nailing his phone-a-friends, but his own matches have not been great lately. Liam and Mad Dog need him for MLB and NBA BIG TIME!

2. Will Cheah be able to give the squad much-needed points?

3. Mad Dog is the potential difference-maker, as there are not many pop culture knowers in this match.

Thursday Night Match

#13 Ice People (0-2) vs. #5 Markettes (2-1)

The Ice People feel dead in the water, unfortunately. Now they get another big hitter in the Markettes. After their original match, the Markettes have had two easy wins and are looking for a third. Really, for the Markettes, the next step is seeing if they can compete with the top dogs. The Ice People better watch out for the secret weapon phone-a-friend that the Markettes can unleash at any moment... Green... Greg.

Keys:

1. Do Nick & KB get bored and get stuck in "bit mode"?

2. Will Mark Titus still be laughing at Duke too much to even focus on the questions?

3. Can Elio do the unthinkable and make a pizza as he answers his hockey niche?

Sunday Night Showdown

#8 Po'Boyz (1-2) vs. #2 Uptown Balls (3-0)

Right now, it is hard to find flaws in three teams: Experts, Booze Ponies, and Uptown Balls. The Balls have been a machine, easily dismantling team after team and looking like a repeat champion. The addition of Rone has changed the dynamic, making them a true contender. On the other side, you have a team similar to Sabre, they came out hot but are now trying to re-find it before it’s too late. They have a roster that can get in a groove; they just need to lock in, or this could get away from them very quickly.

Keys:

1. T-Bob NEEDS to be more of a contributor. In the past match, he just didn't give this team enough. He could be an elite player in this league.

2. Will Rone continue to bring the winning magic to the Balls squad?

3. Can Kenjack steal Movies and TV from a squad that doesn't have as strong of a background?

We have some fan favorites playing this week, so you cannot miss the matches Jeff D. Lowe has put together. UCONN getting to the Final Four must have put him in a good mood to give us such a great schedule all in one week.
