Week 5: Dozen Trivia Preview

The madness of March has reached The Dozen Trivia League as we start to see teams separating themselves from the pack and into the title conversation. This week presents opportunity, as a few teams look to show their new staying power in Season 6.

Tuesday Night

12 Hoagies (0-1) vs 11 Grinders (0-1)

I know it’s early, but already this feels like a must‑win for both teams, as they can’t take on any more fringe‑type losses. The Grinders had a hard‑fought loss to start off their new Frank the Tank era. Frank was sharp and will need to continue to be if they want any chance at a playoff bid and run. Jake Malasek also needs to find his rookie‑year groove again. Meanwhile, for the Hoagies, a win against a solid opponent could be just what the doctor ordered to jumpstart a playoff run. Connor and TJ will have to be sharp on sports, though.

Keys

  1. Does Gia own pop culture? Possible steals are on the board.

  2. Which Tank shows up? Match 1 Frank or last‑season Frank?

  3. Can Gruden get into the mix to give his team some “bonus” points?

Prediction: Grinders 15, Hoagies 11

Thursday Night

#10 Chicago (1-1) vs #5 Markettes (1-1)

We have a story of two “who are they?” teams after both had one dud showing and one dominant one. For the Markettes, they have a chance to prove they deserve their 5th‑place ranking. Though there may be some worry after KB whiffed on his Ziti call‑a‑friend for Geography, we all know that is eating him up that the boss man called him for it.

Keys

  1. Does White Sox Dave continue his strong performance from Match 2, or was it a fluke?

  2. Can KB recover from the missed phone‑a‑friend?

  3. Will Mark Titus be too focused on March Madness to fully be in the zone?!?

Odds via DozenTriviaNetwork

Prediction: Markettes 17, Chicago 10

Sunday Night Showdown

#9 Sabre (1-1) vs #2 Experts (2-1)

Brandon Walker, PFT, and Fran feel back on track after the early‑season tournament stumble. This is bad news for Sabre, who is hanging onto their ranking after a huge upset opener. A win for them here may be enough to solidify a playoff spot, but a lopsided loss may put them firmly back into bubble status.

Keys

  1. Meek Phil. After a huge Match 1, he found a much bumpier road in the loss.

  2. Can Liam Blutman force Brandon and PFT into some college football mistakes?

  3. Will Sabre be able to hold their own in pop culture vs. the big bad Fran?

Odds via DozenTriviaNetwork

Prediction: Experts 18, Sabre 13

Another exciting week of trivia is upon us. I also do have a little bit of a streak at risk, as in the last two weeks of predictions I am 6‑0, so let’s see if the magic continues on. We are starting to see slight desperation from some teams come out, will the madness trickle into trivia this March? Tune in to find out!
