Week 13: Dozen Trivia Preview

Last week we saw Uptown Balls firmly assert themselves as true contenders for the regular season title, continuing their undefeated run. A true final regular season test awaits them once again. Now, the Experts just need to clean up one last match to clinch that regular season championship.

After spots #1 and #2, however, things are getting very muddy with around 12 to 13 teams still in the hunt for a playoff spot. With just over a month left until play-ins, the margin for error is slim to none for many teams. Who will take the spots?

Tuesday Night

#16 Ice People (1-2) vs. #1 Experts (6-1)

We love the boys over on the Ice People... but this one is a formality, folks. Unless Brandon, PFT, and Fran all sit out due to "trivia management," this one is over before it starts. Of course, never say never, but for this one, we get to say it. The Ice People will need to regroup this offseason to find out how to be more competitive next season.

Keys:

1. Legacy Game: Hogdale needs to answer EVERY question right; maybe a legacy game to get his team 12 points?

2. Scoring Record: Will Brandon go for an all-time single-game scoring record?

3. Tough Task: Does Gooch give the Experts a tougher set to challenge them a bit more?

Thursday Night

#4 Minihane (3-1) vs. #2 Uptown Balls (5-0)

The first of two HUGE matchups this week with big implications. You have to think the winner of this game is in the fast lane to meet the Experts in the regular season championship for the #1 seed. Uptown Balls continues to show the league "anyone, anytime, anywhere." Right off their win against the Booze Ponies, they go up against another top-5 team, this time, a former champion. Klemmer will need to be strong in baseball or Tommy Smokes will sweep!

Keys:

1. BASEBALL BROS: MLB has to be a huge swing; Klemmer vs. Smokes could mean Klemmer's job is in the balance going into the playoffs.

2. Music for All: Who takes music? Both teams are strong within their own element.

3. Check the Maps: Geography the game changer? Both teams aren't strong here, so a steal could be the difference.

Sunday Night Showdown

#10 Po'Boyz (1-3-2) vs. #6 Markettes (3-2)

Lately, the Po'Boyz have found a way to hold onto their 10th spot in the play-ins, but you have to wonder how many losses they can withstand. Yet again, they have another chance to solidify their spot in the tournament against a basically "tourney lock" in the Markettes. Can they finally get the ship right? Meanwhile, the Markettes only have two high-level losses; a chance to get two games above .500 will be big for cracking the top 5.

Keys:

1. Rookie Ghost: Where is T-Bob? Once a Rookie of the Year favorite, his season has been full of disappointment.

2. Green Means Go: Can Green Greg continue his historic run as an undefeated phone-a-friend?

3. NCAA Advantage: College Sports may be the turning point, as the Po'Boyz have the edge in this category.

Will the Po'Boyz finally fall out of playoff contention? Can Minihane give Uptown Balls their first blemish? It is a big week for The Dozen as the regular season hits the home stretch.
