The Sweet 16 just got much sweeter for Stoolie fans. Did your team already bow out of the Big Dance? No worries, as Friday night may have the highest stakes on the line that we have seen in years at the Stool. With Michigan, Dave Portnoy's alma mater and team for the whole century, playing Alabama, led by one of Rico Bosco's guys, Nate Oats, the idea of a wager was put forth by Portnoy. Well, today the deal was put together behind closed doors, and it is one with possible life-changing implications.
On Wake Up Barstool Monday morning, Dave Portnoy proposed that if Michigan loses to Alabama Friday night, he would give Rico Bosco a 10-year deal with a doubled salary. This means for 10 years, the most stressful day of his life will be nonexistent, as negotiations took clear years from his life every time. BUT this will only be brought to the table if Bosco could bring an equal wager back to Portnoy if Michigan prevails.
Did Rico ever up the stakes! In walks his arch-rival Jeff Nadu...yes, the man who infamously flew last summer, you are not remembering wrong! If Michigan takes down the Crimson Tide, through the next two seasons of Rico's highest-heart-rate college football and basketball, he will be required to do a weekly podcast with said Nadu. Now, the casuals might be like, "Ohhh, so what? A little extra work..." WRONG.
Rico's livelihood is on the line, as he may not live through both the football and basketball seasons doing a podcast with Nadu; this rivalry has gotten to Michigan vs. Ohio State or Duke vs. UNC levels and beyond. Here is where it actually could get even worse for Rico Friday night... he also has another bet involving St. John’s getting to the Final Four. There’s a world in which they could take down top-seeded Duke, and within 30 minutes he loses to Bama, leading to co-hosting a podcast with his arch-enemy.
Friday night in Barstool NY, we have lives on the line. Bosco’s could turn either way in a moment's notice. This is the bet heard around the world, as many already feel a buzz while timers go up all over the internet to count us down to Michigan vs. Alabama: The Bet of the Year. Bosco vs. Portnoy, Rico vs. Nadu...game on.
