The Dozen Trivia Championship Bubble

Dozen Trivia Network

There are 16 teams in the Dozen, but how many of them can actually win the championship?

Can any of the new teams win it? Are we most likely headed for a repeat champion?

I break it all down and more!

Let's start with the first group:

In the Middle of the Bubble

  • Experts

  • Ziti

  • Booze Ponies

  • Minihane

  • Uptown Balls

I believe most of these are self-explanatory, but I also understand the questions some fans may have about some.

Experts and Ziti have won the last two championships, Ponies nearly beat the Experts in last year's tournament, Minihane nearly beat the Ponies, and I am very high on Uptown Balls with the addition of Rone. The only team I could see falling out of this group is Minihane if they cannot figure out Klemmer's struggles, along with some other knowledge gaps, but Kirk can patch a lot of holes with his return.

Just Outside the Bubble

  • Markettes

  • Grinders

  • Po'Boys

  • Ryders

  • Gen XYZ

These teams are fighting to get into the bubble, but either don't have the star power like the Grinders and Gen XYZ, or have big holes on their team like the Ryders.

The Po'boys are interesting because before Sunday's match, I had them in a tier of their own between the middle and outside the bubble, but that showing was embarrassing, so even though I see that as a fluke rather than a long-term outlook on the team, there is no way they could be higher than this.

Gen XYZ has a match-up tonight that could rapidly drop them from this tier, but on paper, they have everything they need to compete with anyone, but lack the top-end talent.

Peeking in

  • Sabres

  • Hoagies

  • Ice People

Similar to Gen XYZ, they have the skeleton of a good playoff-level team, but we need to see more. Connor Griffin is a rookie of the year candidate, Liam Blutman looks to have taken another step as a trivia player, Hogdale is the leader for Rookie of the Year, but everything needs to clear up before I cement them in the higher tier.

Denied at The Door

  • Chicago

  • Red Team

  • Ice Dawgs

These teams have fallen into the tier of despair. They have no strengths (besides Ice Dawgs with the NHL), and all three teams combine for one top 25-level player (Big T).

I had hope for the Red Team, as I thought Jack Mac could be a good player and Dante could throw in some random facts, but I was wildly disappointed.

Chicago has a chance tonight to make some noise, but I have my doubts.
