The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is Back

Eric Dane is an actor who is most known for his role as Mark Sloan aka "McSteamy" in Grey's Anatomy, but also plays notable roles in Euphoria, Burlesque, and others. I, along with many others, are heartbroken, because ALS is one of those diseases you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy.

ALS (aka Lou Gehrig's Disease) is a degenerative nervous system disease that affects muscle control. It usually starts with bouts of twitching or slurred speech and can eventually progress to affecting your ability to move, eat, and breathe. When a person is at the height of the disease, it essentially turns your body into a shell, because it usually doesn't affect a person's ability to taste, smell, touch, and hear. Truly just an awful disease.

Since he came out and announced his prognosis, I've been seeing an old internet trending popping up on my feeds. This brings us to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. I'm sure all of you remember the Summer of 2014. 2014 was the year of Alex from Target, selfie sticks, "Adele Dazeem," and Kim K breaking the internet. #yasssss

However, one of the most popular trends of the year with over 17 million people participating in it was the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. The goal of this challenge was to film yourself dumping a bucket of ice water on your head, challenging your friends and family to do it, and raise money for the ALS Association. My friends and I all just did it for fun, and didn't actually donate, but apparently it raised millions of dollars which is amazing.

Celebrities even took part in it

Like I said, now that Eric Dane has announced his diagnosis, the ice bucket challenge is having a resurgence.

USC students have also started their own version of the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness for mental health.

Love you McSteamy and I am sending you all the good vibes, prayers, and love to you and your family.
