Survivor 48: Episode 2 Recap

Let me first start off by saying this season of Survivor is probably off to the hottest start I can remember in recent years. Two episodes in, 3 idols found and one tribe that is totally clueless on how this game works.
Since tribal and everything leading up to it got me so fired up, I'll start there.
Sending Kevin home here is just a bonehead move by this tribe. Cedrek is going to be gone next, as he should because he can't keep his mouth shut and that should be a HUGE red flag going forward.
With everything that happened last week, you'd think it would be a no-brainer for the Green tribe to send Sai home regardless of the outcome. But no. Cedrek had to open his big mouth to Sai and save her for what reason? So that she can stab you in the back later on in the game? Just a wild move for this tribe. She's just a mean bully from Philly that has a big personality and bigger mouth that everyone should be sick of by now.
Like you really want this girl to stick around for another few nights? Just crazy. But hey, at least the idol is gone now.
Orange tribe is strange. David has 4 nipples, Charity has an insanely fucked up foot situation with her toes, Kyle thinks he has a callus when it's so clearly a wart - and to have that for 10+ years?!?!? Just a strange group of people all around - but they are all very likeable, especially Mitch but I'll get to Chef Curry later on.
Eva. Eva, Eva, Eva. She's so likeable. Super energetic, seems like she has a huge heart, definitely will end up being a fan favorite, but you cannot be running your mouth about who can sit or play in the next challenge when it's day two and you have no clue what the challenge is. That's a bad look, and Star capitalizes on it with her idol find.
Now comes the fun part of the Purple tribe.
Shauhin and Thomas. You two little villains you, specifically you, Thomas. And I love it. Telling Shauhin to get rid of the clue that Star gave you so she can never solve her idol to open it? That's absolutely diabolical and it's awesome. That needs to happen, and I suppose that will be TBD in the next episode, but planting that seed to totally throw Star off would be hilarious and awesome.
And Thomas setting that up with his advantage that he didn't tell anyone about - FINALLY.

The journey with Thomas, Mitch and Mary was actually a pretty good challenge - I can't explain it but it was basically just putting numbers in a row in order from 1-15 and you can only move one at a time. Kind of a slide puzzle, but again since the official Survivor twitter page hasn't tweeted anything since 2023, it's kind of difficult to find the clips.
The only thing that I didn't understand is, how did multiple people win? It should have been who got it first, but I also guess since it's still early on and they want more chaos in the tribes to start out with, so fuck it. Thomas and Mitch come away with the steal/block a vote advantage and Mary walks away with nothing.
Now Mitch coming back to tribal and telling everyone about his advantage? Sure, why not. He just seems like an overall great guy so that all checks out.
Thomas coming back and not telling anyone? Chef's kiss. Well done, Thomas. Keep that to yourself until you DESPERATELY need the vote to go your way. There's no reason to tell anyone, especially since no one really questioned you when you came back. Good on ya.
Kyle finds an idol with Dave - nothing really to that other than they both don't trust Mitch and Charity for some reason, hence them idol hunting. Moving on.
The challenge was awesome. Thank God there was no puzzle - finally - to end it and it was an entirely physical challenge the whole way through. Thank you, Jeff.
One thing is abundantly clear, and that's that we need to see a one on one faceoff between David and Jonathan from season 42. That seems like a battle of Goliaths that would result in a world ending collision that creates a sonic boom.
But this was a runaway for both the Orange and Purple tribe from the jump, especially at the balance beam part of the challenge.
And here come the splash brothers in Mitch and Eva. For fucks sake they couldn't miss. Mitch was ballin out there. Chef Curry with the shot boy!
Just granny shots all the way home and drained every single shot he took. Just a beast of a performance from ole Mitchy. Well done.
Thus sending the Green tribe to tribal yet again. Worst tribe ever. Kevin tried to make a big move on night three and then Cedrek decides to ruin it to protect someone he just met three days ago because she feels like a daughter to him? I mean, like I said before, it got rid of the idol and maybe a move can be made next week, because let's be honest, this tribe isn't winning a damn thing, but come on.
All I know is that this season has the potential to be epic from the first two episodes so far. And I really, REALLY, hope Thomas keeps his advantage to himself and becomes the villain that could be a legitimate game-breaker at the merge.
