The Dozen season is just flying by at this point, as June and playoffs loom closer and closer each week. I'm sure, like me, many fans are impatiently waiting for the announcement of tickets and dates in Boston! In the meantime, though, we are still getting fun-filled Dozen moments & of course, as always, good trivia from Jeff D. Lowe (fighting through food poisoning even to provide us with the best entertainment).
Mostly Trivia Back in the Playoff Hunt with Big Win
Mostly Trivia's season has not been what most thought when the new franchise was announced this winter, as they have had some disappointing performances, to say the least. Through the duds and shortcomings, they still sat in a spot where a little run could get them into the play-in conversation. That run started with a 16-10 victory over Macrodosing.
Let's jump over to Macrodosing for a second, though, this may have been one of their worst performances of the season, and the frustration was boiling over as Big T & Maddog couldn't mask the rough emotions. Maddog led the way easily for the squad with 7.7 pts, but Big T & Arian Foster just had nothing to give, ultimately hurting their chances. Now falling to 1-3-1, they are in a need-to-be-perfect-the-rest-of-the-way situation or hope for some help from others.

As for Mostly, this win could be what they needed to turn this inaugural season around. In fact, could they be the next Vegas Golden Knights? You just never know!! Climbing to .500 at 2-2 will be a major step into play-in territory. Along with a pretty solid fan vote, they just need to avoid any duds. The big change this past week has to be Ebo, who had a breakout performance with 9 pts. We know Mark Titus can bring it; if the help around him continues to come in, watch out higher seeds in June.
Gen XYZ Holds On Late Over Chicago
In the first Season Five rematch, Gen XYZ got their revenge as they took down Chicago 14-13, as the questions ran out for them on the comeback attempt. With Mostly winning on Tuesday, this did put both of these squads in positions of near must-wins. Chicago just came out of the gate a bit slow, which in the end did hurt them. Chief & Kenjac both scored just under 7 pts in the loss. Falling to 2-4 at this point in the season is not ideal, and they will be hunting a marquee win in the latter half of the season.
Gen XYZ, coming in at 1-2, knew that falling would all but seal their fate of being on the outside looking in. They played with that urgency and teamwork, as their captain Large led the way with 8 pts. By getting up to 2-2, they should hold themselves in the conversation, though their fan vote may not be as strong as some of the teams around them. With that, another big win could be needed in order to clinch the play-ins.
Ziti With Another Snack Attack
Sometimes matches don't have a big gap in the score, but at the same time, it never really feels in doubt. Well, that was our Sunday Night matchup, as Ziti let the Icedogs stick around before they finally shut the door on them late with the 15-8 victory. For Ziti, an easy win to pull to 2-2, but overall from an analyst standpoint, they still are not as sharp this season. The championship hangover is still showing, or they feel they just need to get in and then turn it on come playoff time. Eddie & Clem with 12 & 11 pts performances are not to be overlooked, but they also were given more chances with steals from the Ice Dogs, and we all know most teams are not giving away that much. Either way, 2-2, and a HUGE fan vote will keep them out of play-in territory.
As for our beloved Ice Dogs, they made a little run in the middle of the match, but overall again burdened with lack of knowledge & technical difficulties, which did cause them to miss a question at an important juncture. Now, we love this team as fans, and they will be here next season. With that being said, the boys need to get in the lab, become the comeback story we all wanna see next season, and shock the Dozen world in 2026 boys, because your book is closed on 2025.
As the season continues, here are some postseason awards odds from the Dozen Trivia Network:

This week ahead, we are moving into May, most likely about 6 weeks from play-ins. It is go time for all teams in the hunt. Taking a look at the new rankings for Week 13: The Yak have an all-important game ahead as they are stuck at #8. The Ryders continued to take a bit of a tumble, now at #7. Mostly Trivia is back in the play-in spot at #10; their next match will be HUGE! Though for now, let's see who we got in Week 13.
