We are in the grind of the Dozen Trivia League season now. Teams are working to build résumés and hit their strides for a playoff push or, hopefully, a championship run. This past week, we saw some big names who have been in the league since day one, along with a few newcomers as well. It was an exciting week of good trivia, including some surprising results and a couple of new teams putting a stamp on their résumés.
Tuesday Night: Ryders Stun the Frankettes
Tuesday night’s match put the up-and-coming Ryders against the usually dominant Frankettes. The Ryders were not intimidated by history as they flew out to a 7-2 lead over the Frankettes. A huge debacle occurred over the college basketball topic...with Nick & KB on their phones and unable to use their "Phone a Friend," they turned to Jenks, who missed one of, if not his first, Frank question. The cherry on top? The question was about Mark Titus’ teammates, and Titus was the very person they were trying to call.
Either way, college sports continue to plague the Frankettes. They did recover and ended up taking a short lead before losing it for good during the niche round...another classic moment in a Frankettes match. Usually, they find a way to escape these messes for a victory. This match, however, proved to be very different, with many calling it the upset of the season so far.
The balanced attack of KFC, Keegs, & Rico has worked well, and they now sit with what many could consider two Quad 1 wins already on their résumé. As for the Frankettes, Frank & Nick seemed a bit off their game in this one. For all the big Frankettes fans, let’s hope this lights a fire under them to come back stronger.
Thursday Night: Mostly Trivia Finds Some Rhythm
Thursday night featured a clash of Dozen veterans on new teams as Mostly Trivia faced off against Charity Case. This was a make-or-break match for Mostly Trivia, and they stepped up under pressure. Mark Titus was on his game, including a huge 3-point swing in college basketball...poor Gia, there are just so many Porter Jrs. in the NBA.
Still, Charity Case fought through, keeping the match tight throughout. Both teams scored at a high clip, which is crucial for playoff positioning. In the end, though, Mostly Trivia was just too much on this night, winning 15-13.
Titus led all scorers with 8.7 points, while for Charity Case, Gia continues to show her knowledge of good trivia with 7 points. Both teams now leave with a respectable 1-1 record.

Sunday Night: The Experts Take Care of Business
Sunday night gave us an old-school battle as Chicago & The Experts faced off in what many thought could be Brandon Walker’s last game. Thankfully, he was forced to sign on for another five years by Big Cat, Mama, and Tommy Walker. That could have been disastrous if not for their quick thinking at the end of The Yak on Friday.
As for the match itself, this was one of those “never felt in doubt” games. Nothing against Chicago...they put up 12 points and had their moments...but The Experts were just in control from start to finish.
Brandon, fighting through a headache, was locked in, scoring 9.7 points of his team’s 16. The Experts once again look like a wagon and are hoping to finally break through this year.
As for Chicago, falling to 0-2 puts them in a tough spot. Though neither loss was bad, they will need to get on a winning streak soon or risk being on the outside looking in come playoff time.
