SPOILERS WARNING: Dozen Trivia Week 3 Recap

The Dozen Trivia is now fully into the grind of the regular season, with every team jockeying for position in hopes of being a top-8 seed by June. This past week, we definitely saw it all—from exciting finishes to record-breaking performances. Let’s dive into the action.

Tuesday Night: Cheah comes in Clutch

The first match of the week was the match of the week. Macrodosing faced off against the bad boys of The Yak, and with a last-minute sub in Liam Blutman (who we’ll talk about more later), the stakes were even higher. Macrodosing didn’t miss a beat, though, as Blutman stepped in for Arian Foster and delivered a blow-for-blow performance against The Yak. Rone came to play, leading his team with 8.7 points, while Big Cat played as if he was still stuck in vacation mode, putting up only 2 points.

Despite a rocky start, The Yak forced overtime in a wild back-and-forth that, of course, involved Cheah (not spoiling too much, but you have to watch his OT comments). Ultimately, The Yak sealed their first win of the season.

Both teams played well—Macrodosing was led by Mad Dog with 6 points—but their biggest concern moving forward is balance of knowledge. Will they have enough to consistently compete with the top dogs? Big T will need to contribute more than 4 points if they want to make a real push for postseason play.

As for The Yak, this win saved them from what could have been a major setback in their playoff hopes. Rone stepped up, but they’ll need way more from Big Cat if they want to compete with teams like The Experts or Uptown Balls. For now, though, a win is a win.

The Second Match: Is Charity Case a Wagon?

The second match of the week featured the debut of maybe already broken Charity Case. Team captain Rudy Junda (maybe that one the CIA mentioned—still unsure) seemed confident his squad had moved past the incident, and their play backed up his words. They took down Gen XYZ in a close 14-12 battle.

Rudy looked like he might have found his form again, leading the way with 8.7 points, while Gia matched his total with another 8.7. Meanwhile, Gen XYZ seemed a little off with their new teammate, Big Ev. It'll be interesting to see whether they take a step back or find their chemistry.

Moving forward, Charity Case could be a sneaky good team. Rudy knows a ton of random trivia, Gia has a strong grasp on pop culture, and Mintzy’s sports knowledge makes them a legitimate threat. Was last week a fluke? Their next match will tell us a lot about whether they’re real contenders or not.

Sunday Night Special: The Experts Dominate

Then came our Sunday Night Special—and boy, was it one to watch. The Experts took on the Ice Dogs, who were making their season debut, and, well… it showed. Outside of a hockey category sweep, this was an absolute slaughter by Brandon Walker and The Experts.

Walker was in a trivia zone, while Mush, Yands, and David Andrews gave away way too many answers. This was another classic Q4-type win for The Experts, but at this point, I think people want to see them play more matchups against Uptown Balls, The Frankettes, or Ziti—teams that can actually push them.

Still, this was a fun one, antics and all, even though the score was VERY lopsided. And to top it off, Brandon Walker & Co. broke two records!

The BIGGEST news of the week was The Dozen’s worst-kept secret finally becoming official—we now have a 16-team league with the addition of Jon Gruden’s "The Grinders"! Gruden is teaming up with Liam Blutman (who had a solid performance last week) and Jake Malesek (Virginia grad—supposedly a big-time smart school guy).

They make their debut this week, and with Gruden being a content machine, this squad is going to be must-watch trivia. Can they back it up? We’ll find out soon.

Now onto the next week of matchups—it’s shaping up to be an exciting week of trivia. Let’s take a look at who’s in action, including what could be Will Compton’s final piece of Barstool content and the end of his Booze Ponies run.

Make sure to tune in for all three must-watch matchups!
