It was a week of big hitters in The Dozen Trivia League, as 5 of the top 7 teams were in action. Again, we were not left disappointed, as it was really just some good trivia from Jeff D. Lowe. The teams are starting to realize that the season is moving very quickly, and we may start to see desperation begin to set in as the fight for the playoffs intensifies.
We are rolling into mid-April this weekend, putting us only about 2 months away from the playoffs, and with only 8 teams making the new double-elimination playoff bracket, the dogfight for those spots could be hanging in every match we have left.
Brandon Walker leads Experts in drubbing over his showmates, Mostly Trivia
The up-and-down season for expansion team Mostly Trivia continued this past week as they took another double-digit defeat, falling 20-9 to the 3rd-ranked Experts. Mark Titus, TJ, and Ebo unfortunately looked a bit outmatched in this one. While the two lopsided losses could hold them from playoff contention, on the other hand, their strength of schedule may be a major saving grace.
Titus and the boys need to stack some wins, as I do expect them to gain a decent fan vote and thankfully for Titus, there’s not a Barstool employee vote...
As for the Experts, they continue their high number of matches in the regular season, per usual. I do have to state the clear & obvious... CUPCAKE schedule. Look, I love the Experts and am a huge B-Walk guy, but right now they are early 2010s Gonzaga basketball...easy peezy regular season, but then can’t handle the grind of a playoff run. Gonzaga learned and upped the schedule it’s time for the Experts to do the same if they don’t want the same fate of seeing someone else raise the trophy. This is said all with love, as Walker, PFT, and Fran are a fun watch every time.

Side note: Brandon Walker, as of today, is the MVP. He poured in 13.7 points, again far ahead of anyone else in the match.
Booze Ponies bounce back over balanced-attack Yak
Quickly coming off suffering their first defeat and losing the No. 1 rank, many could have thought the Ponies might be primed to fall again. Add to that...they were facing a highly ranked Yak squad that is always dangerous in any match.
The match did NOT disappoint. Of course, to twist the knife a bit more for Big Cat, Patrick Mahomes got him again in what may have been the decider in a 15-13 loss. For The Yak, this should not hurt them at all, as they fall to 2-2 on the season with a great strength of schedule and, as the bad boys of trivia, a favorable fan vote.
This may have been the most balanced they’ve looked in a long time, with Rone & Cheah posting 9 points each, and then Big Cat with his game of the year in the loss, bringing in 8 points. If they can continue those contributions, a playoff run is not out of the realm for The Yak.
How about them Booze Ponies? After a gut-wrenching loss and a quick turnaround no fatigue shown here! Firing on all cylinders, they put in a great performance to avoid a losing streak and get back on track.
Will Compton (3.7 points) continues to find just the right moments to put in a good answer, while Dana & Fiets (7.7, 6.7 points) as a one-two punch of sports/pop culture were on point. The league is looking more and more loaded as the season goes on, but still it’s hard to imagine the Final Four not having the Ponies at this point in the season.
Defending Champs Ziti continue slide against Ryders
The Ryders continue to not back down from any challenge as they took on defending champion Ziti on Sunday night. The Ryders have played a very tough schedule to this point and have looked the part of a title contender this week taking the 15-13 win.
Kelly Keegs continues to be a major difference maker for her squad, with a game-high 10 points leading the charge in this victory. KFC & Rico Bosco also had timely hits to keep Ziti at bay the whole match. A major turning point was baseball doubled up by Ziti, missed, and then stolen by the Ryders. I was left screaming at my TV as a D-Backs fan!!
Ziti has not looked as strong this year so far not sure if the league’s deeper or if it’s just some fatigue from the insane run they had to the championship last year. The loss shouldn’t hurt them too much, but sitting at 1-2, they’ll need a couple of dubs moving forward to hopefully stay out of the play-in tournament which, if you don’t remember, will be seeds 7–10 to determine the final two spots in the double-elimination bracket.
After the busy week, here are the updated rankings

the major movers being, of course, the Ryders off of their big win. We also have some big matchups ahead this week, including #8 Frankettes looking to get back on track after a very abysmal two-game slide they are currently stuck in.

This week is going to be off the wall! B-walk vs Mintzy, Grinders vs Ice Dogs, and anytime we have the Frankettes we know its a content factory!
