New Era in New York: NYG Season Preview

ree

For almost every single season since Eli retired, I found myself being insanely negative and pessimistic towards this team - and rightfully so since the Giants have posted an abysmal 40-64-1 record since 2017. But now that the Daniel Jones is FINALLY out of the picture, and what seems to be a promising preseason, I think the Giants might actually be just good enough to make me insanely and irrationally angry for the next 18 weeks.

Considering last season I was spot on with my record prediction after the second preseason game,

I have to try and go perfect two years in a row with a prediction on how the season will go.

After their performance this preseason, I can't help but think the Giants might actually have a successful season. Abdul Carter looks like he's going to be a menace, Russell Wilson has proved he still has the deep ball, and Jaxson Dart looks like the next great quarterback in the NFL.

I know that last video is a long one, but Jaxson Dart looks better than any QB the Giants have had since the Manning administration. I think it's safe to say that after posting a 32/47 372 yards, 4 total TDs and no turnovers, he is the real deal. And having a guy like Jameis on the team is just so much fun. That guy can do no wrong in my eyes.

Now it's time to get realistic. Will we make the playoffs? One can only hope, but I think we have a foot in the right direction and will absolutely see an improvement comparative to recent years.

Week 1: Giants @ Commanders

Opening day baby. Scary Terry didn't play a snap, or practice, in preseason or training camp. Does that really mean anything for a player of that caliber? No. But it can mean that the rhythm with Jayden Daniels could be off for the first few drives, which is where the Giants could capitalize. I still don't think this one will be close - our only hope is to keep Daniels from scrambling and holding both Deebo and McLaurin in check. Giants lose this one - 0-1 to start the season.

Week 2: Giants @ Cowboys

This is where things could be interesting. I, for one, think the Cowboys are going to be complete dog shit. Their offense will be good, but they might give up 30 points a game with that defense - especially without Parsons (thank you Jerry). This could be a huge game for both Tracey and Nabers. I think we somehow sneak away with a win - our first since the Cowboys in over four years. 1-1

Week 3: Chiefs @ Giants

Alright the home opener. And I will most likely not even tune into this one, mostly because I'm already tired of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce news on all my social media feeds and TV as it is. Who am I kidding? I'm going to watch this and it's going to be torture. This game won't be particularly close. Giants lose - 1-2.

Week 4: Chargers @ Giants

This is going to be a win for the Giants. I don't know why, but I have a feeling this could be a great game for us at home, and if it's not, get ready for week 5 because I think there will be something awesome coming. Giants win 2-2

Week 5: Giants @ Saints

The Saints are going to absolutely suck this year. If the Giant's don't win this game, there is a serious problem. Although these are the kinds of games that the Giants play down to their opponents level and forget how to play football. If they lose against the Chargers, I think this will be Jaxson Dart's coming out party - and if that's the case, the rookie will be in for a HUGE day and the Giants will win, cementing Dart as the QB of the future for the G-Men. 3-2

Week 6: Eagles @ Giants

Do I really even need to say anything about this game? It would be absolutely epic to win against this team and shut Saquon down, but I just don't see a world where that happens. Giants lose - 3-3.

Week 7: Giants @ Broncos

Broncos country, let's ride. The Broncos are going to be very good this year - might win the AFC West. Jaxson Dart struggles in this game, Giants go back to Russ and they keep things interesting late in the fourth but eventually fall to Denver - Giants 3-4.

Week 8: Giants @ Eagles

I will never understand playing a division rival two out of three weeks but hey what do I know? This game being in Philly, I think they can figure this team out and try to play spoiler, but I just think the Eagles are far and away the better team - Giants 3-5.

Week 9: 49ers @ Giants

A home game against a team traveling from the west coast to the east coast might play out in the Giants' favor. Obviously San Fran has been the much better team as of late, but I could see a slip up in this one as a trap game for them. Somehow, some way, the Giants are going to sneak away with this one - Giants 4-5.

Week 10: Giants @ Bears

The Bears suck. Plain and simple (sorry Big Cat). Caleb Williams is going to be a huge bust and even with the new coaching staff, they will be the same old Bears. Their defense is pretty good, but Caleb Williams still looks lost out there and with the Giants pass rush, I think he is going to be in a world of trouble in this game.  After surpassing their win total from last year by week 9, the Giants are going to be rolling - 5-5.

Week 11: Packers @ Giants

This is going to be a tough one. The Packers are legit this season. I think Jordan Love is going to have a monster year and with Micah Parsons knowing this Giants team, he's going to cause chaos against us. I don't see a world where this is a close game. Giants 5-6.

Week 12: Giants @ Lions

This one is over before it even starts. Giants 5-7

Week 13: Giants @ Patriots

This is going to be an awesome game. Perhaps the first snow game of the season? At night? In Foxborough? MNF? Last game before the bye week? This has the makings of an all out game for the Giants - or they could fail miserable and get shit on by Mike Vrabel and the Pats. But I think this game is as winnable as any this season. Drake Maye is good and so is Diggs, but I can see Diggs being a locker room trouble by this point in the season - Giants win - 6-7.

Week 14: BYE WEEK

Week 15: Commanders @ Giants

I think by this point in the season the Commanders are going to be rolling into the playoffs and will have a chance at a first round bye, so that means we are SCREWED. This is where Jayden Daniels lights us up for over 300 in the air and 100 on the ground and we get blown out. 6-8.

Week 16: Vikings @ Giants

This is where the Giants start to roll. I have a feeling the Vikings will also suck this year with McCarthy as the QB. He is not going to be good at all. He barely threw the ball in college, and yeah he has Jettas and Addison, but I cannot see him being good in the slightest. And Carson Wentz as the backup? I don't think so. Shoulda rolled with Darnold. This game could be a huge one for Dart. I think we get close to 350 passing and Nabers with almost 200 of them and two scores. Giants win - 7-8.

Week 17: Giants @ Raiders

We are going to get our second 2-game win streak this season in this one. I think this is going to be Dart's best game yet and the Giants are going to win this one handedly. We will see Skattebo and Tracey each score with a combined 200+ on the ground and Dart throwing for 2+ scores. Giants 8-8.

Week 18: Cowboys @ Giants

And of course we have to finish the season with Dallas, because of course. This could be a playoff-deciding game for the Giants. I think we will throw out everything we got in this one. Although after a massive improvement from last year, we lose this one and miss out on the playoffs but the future is bright. 8-9.

I know 8-9 is INSANELY optimistic, but something about this team, it looks like they got their swagger back.

ree

I will say this - I could be insanely wrong about every single game this year, but it is the first time in quite a while that I am going into the season with optimism.

Regardless of what happens, I think Daboll is the guy we need to keep, Joe Schoen is hit or miss, and Jaxson Dart is our guy at QB. I will leave you with some more Dart highlights to get other Giants fans pumped for the season.

GO BIG BLUE!
