Legacy Day at The Masters

Warning this is not a dream, yes we have this match up right before us. Rory vs Bryson in the final pairing Sunday at The Masters. Rory McIlroy going for the career grand slam and Bryson Dechambeau looking for his first green jacket likewise. Dechambeau nailed a putt at 18 in the golden light to pull within 2 shots of Rory as they tee off later today. Setting up for a all timer on the course today at Augusta.

We all know of Rory’s issues not just at The Masters on Sundays but in majors as a whole including last years collapse at the US Open, in which Bryson himself took advantage of. 2014 PGA was his last major win, as he closes in on 11 years of heartbreaks. For McIlroy it seems to all be on the line today. You see in sports the big ones always seem to have themselves a legacy game at some point, and this could be Rory’s moment this afternoon. Time to exercise the demons. All of the meltdowns, close calls, and what ifs smashed into one afternoon in the course.

This isn’t just about Rory though today, as Bryson has a chance to continue an all time turnaround from heel to hero. Over the past year or two Dechambeau has gone from the laughing stock of golf to the man many if not more fans will be cheering for today. This will be his first major moment not being the antagonist. How might he handle this, is a huge question mark. His legacy could be solidified today as the new face of golf. Could a torch be passing?
Lastly a side story many not be thinking about but in a way we also have PGA vs LIV. I wouldn’t be doing my job as a blogger to not at least mention this final angle. Rory has been huge in the PGA camp, while Bryson has become the face of LIV. Both entities will be pulling for their guy to win, as for the PGA a chance to dig their claws into the fact they still are golf. LIV on the other hand looking for the “we are next up” moment to take into the next round of negotiations between the two. In reality though as a golf fan, get this shit figured out! Look at this weekend, we need ALL of our golfers back playing more than 4 times a year together! FIX IT! Wait hold up not now, my bad I’m sorry, not the gonna let this be the topic today. It’s Rory vs Bryson.

One thing to add to this amazing day of golf ahead, if the legacy moment for the two becomes too big. We have a few just waiting in the shadows that are more than capable to make a run at the green jacket. Canadian Corey Connors at -8 is hungry to breakthrough on the major scene. Patrick Reed…ugh is well in the hunt I guess wanting a 2nd jacket, like whatever dude. Then we have the Swede Ludvig Aberg who was runner up last year and has the ability to push them up top, but is 6 back at -6.
As the great Herb Brooks once said, “Great moments are born from great opportunities, and that is what you(we) have here tonight(today), boys”. It’s not every weekend we get to watch history made right before our eyes, let’s soak this one in. And oh right I totally forgot…Gooooo RORY!!! Luck of the Irish laddies!!!
Bet of the Day: Total homer bet!
