KB Cooks Again with My Dbacks

The Yak continued its run of MLB guests, this time with my Arizona Diamondbacks visiting Chicago for a series against the White Sox. Merrill Kelly and Zac Gallen came through.
For those who don’t know about my infinity for the Dbacks or who the heck these two are, Kelly & Gallen have been the core of the D-backs’ reemergence in the league, including leading them to a 2023 NL Pennant.
Gallen was also a former All-Star Game starter, so these two are big-time players in the baseball universe. Yes, Zac has had a down year, but he’s still an all-time D-back pitcher. In fact if you go back and watch or already have, the Wrigley game they mention was actually my first Wrigley Field experience, and it was a Dbacks 1-0 win, so cool.
Kelly took an alternate route to the big leagues compared to most. The hometown kid played for Arizona State, then stalled out in the Tampa Bay Rays’ organization before heading to Korea for a few years. The D-backs scooped him up, and it’s been a love story between the two ever since, part of the 1-2 punch for Arizona.
As they sat down to start, a little feeler out of the gate, Gallen shocked the boys Nick & KB right away by saying he’s a fan of A New Untold Story.
This is now the second MLBer to say he’s a fan specifically of ANUS, with Sal Frelick of the Milwaukee Brewers chiming in with the same tune during his visit to the office.
Well, this of course led into another classic KB interaction with a ballplayer. For those who don’t know the lore, KB is notorious for asking the most unique questions to athletes and celebrities. Sometimes it hits, and other times the awkwardness becomes the hit.
Recently, KB has been on a waterpark kick, researching players' hometowns and nearby parks, then springing the question on them live. It took nearly five players before one of them had actually been to or liked a waterpark. So you think failure right? WRONG.
Zach Agnos of the Colorado Rockies got caught up in KB’s world, trying to fire back with his own fun facts. As more players come onto the Yak, they’ve started catching on.
Today Gallen threw him a curveball of his own, name-dropping his friend Tyler Phillips, who had already faced KB’s chaos.
But here’s the thing...the moment you think you’ve got KB cornered, he flips it on you in a flash. This time, he pivoted straight into... "cold cuts." Which led to yet another amazing interaction.
Yes, there’s no denying Nicky Clicky, but KB is right there with him, and he’s currently on a big-time Yak heater. Flipping the True Detective Daddario scene on the boys, Big Cat with the burritos, and the iconic line about never getting fired after the Katic video.
And while we can't help but miss his legendary blogging, KB just finds ways to get those clicks for the Stool.
