Before I get into this blog all about Joey Daccord’s brilliance, yes, I know the Kraken’s season is six feet under and we are in a lame duck stretch of the year. Some will say we should be “tanking” for draft picks or calling up all of our close prospects to see what the future could bring for Seattle. I’m all here for our prospects, I mean sometimes as a fan of bad teams, you hang onto the end-of-the-season prospect call-ups so you can give all your buddies the “Bro I’m not worried, we got DUDES coming up” speech.
Back to the main attraction though, as I’m not here entirely for the talk of Berkley Catton, Jaggar Firkus, Eduard Sale, Ty Nelson, or Carson Rehkopf. But I had to include those names for us waiting patiently for their arrival. In general has this been a tough 2 seasons since our inaugural playoff appearance. But we have to believe there is a lamp lighting around the corner. The emergence of Shane Wright, bounce back year of Matty Beniers, and the acquisition of Kaako Kappo pairing with defenseman Vince Dunn & Brandon Montour is a great building point.

Though to me to win in the NHL it all comes down to goaltending, and the biggest positive of this season is not the young talent here or on the way, it’s been Joey Daccords consistentcy in his second season taking the lions share of the games. His impressive campaign continued last year as he led the way in a 24 save shutout over the playoff contending Vancouver Canucks.
Last night Daccord looked like an elite goalie in this league, completely under control the entire game, giving the Canucks virtually no A looks. Also we need to think about Daccords season in the terms of what we have been as a squad this year. The Kraken have not been the most helpful on defense and give up many high scoring chances, yet Joey has had many more better than not performances, including an above .500 record. Along with a top 10 save percentage of 91%.
Thankfully we have locked him in, as he enters his peak years for goalies. Again another overall disappointment of a season closes, as fans what we hold onto is potential future success. With performances like this from Joey and the young scorers improving each game, we could turn the corner very soon Krakheads! JOEY JOEY JOEY!
