After an off week last week NASCAR is back today in Newton, IA for the Iowa Corn 350. This is a 0.875 mile "D" shaped oval racetrack, and is airing on USA Network with prerace coverage starting at 3pm EST, race is set to start at 3:38pm EST. Weather in Newton today is going to sunny and hot, so we shouldn't have any weather delays.
Okay, enough about the race details, let's get to my picks.
Brad Keselowski - Finishing Position Wrose than 13.5: Brad did qualify 4th but because of damage caused during qualifying there were changes made which are putting him at the back of the pack. I don't see him being able to come back to the top and finish about this line today.
Christopher Bell - Finishing Position Better than 7.5: Christopher Bell has covered this line in 5 of the last 6 races. He is starting P22, but he has started in worse positions and finished above this line.
Joey Logano - Finishing Position Better than 7.5: After the North Wilkesboro Joey said that he is best on short tracks, today is a short track so hes finishing above this line. As always, if he doesn't cover I will be referring to him as Slowgano.
Ryan Blaney - More than 40.5 Fastest Laps: Ryan is starting P1 and had the fastest lap averages yesterday so this feels like a no brainier. Ryan is wearing a helmet today in honor of Kyle Busch, which I believe will be an added push for Ryan to get Rowdy today.
Other things to keep in mind during today's race:
Bubba Wallace was around 11th fastest in practice but qualified P26. He was very unhappy with that effort since he showed he has a fast car. As it stands now, Bubba is +6 from the cut line and needs to have some good stage finishes today.
This is the final race at Iowa before it is repaved. When NASCAR comes back next year for the race over July 4th it will have a new surface.
Denny Hamlin changed his brakes after yesterday's qualifying but will not start at the back, per Jeff Gluck. He is starting P29 and is going to need to move up to get some solid stage points to keep his points lead. Tyler Reddick is 84 points behind Denny in points and is starting P5. Ryan Blaney is 120 points behind Denny in points and is starting P1.
The number 1 car of Ross Chastain has the best paint scheme today in the Busch Light Farmers car.
