Another major, and yet again we, as Ludvig Åberg fans, are ready to hurt again. After his subpar Round 1, he came back with a masterful Round 2 that included tearing up a back nine that has put the world's best in a blender. Out of nowhere, he has put himself not only in contention but right into the top 10 heading into the weekend after a 66 today.
Now, before you get on my ass about how we have been here before, including three times this year with Ludde, let’s instead enjoy the ride. Whatever happens this weekend with his game, let’s enjoy that we get to see Åberg play weekend major golf. Not to mention, that is now two straight majors he has been paired with Bryson DeChambeau, and he not only outplayed him but sent him packing before the weekend. A HUGE win-win for me, without a doubt. Another major without the whiny brat messing it up.
What really makes this weekend even more must-watch is how wide open the tournament feels, with a mix of big names and no-namers all in the hunt. In fact, we have over 40 golfers within five shots going into the weekend, so this one is not only far from a runaway but truly anyone's game.
When you add in the final and maybe biggest factor...the clear chip on the shoulder of the PGA, who have made this course as tough as possible through two days, the question becomes: will we see this energy continue into the weekend, or will they soften things up a bit? With many players already voicing their thoughts, you have to wonder if they will crack or double down.

For Åberg, the key will be to avoid the big number; he has done such a good job of that so far. It's a major, and you are gonna drop a shot here and there, but this is a place where you can't recover from doubles or triples. I am ready to be on the edge of my seat, and whatever happens, I'll be back the next time he tees it up. Let's go, LUDDE!
