The calendar may be telling us there are still a few days left before summer officially starts, but I’m here to say tonight marks it for the ball knowers! EA Sports College Football 27 has dropped all of its new content right into our laps to digest for the next month as we now anxiously await the release. If you missed out on the drop, no worries, I have the rundown of all the major changes coming to CFB 27... and boy, did they cook with this one!
Gameplay
We complained and they listened. The depth of our control is insane for this year, as we are able to preset three-tiered defensive choices that we can then change with one or two button clicks instead of seven or eight, meaning no more failing to get the play off before the snap. But it doesn’t stop there; along with having so much more command pre-play, we also have the moves to make in-play to help us feel the game even more.
Along with the plays, there is the surrounding atmosphere, because we finally, I mean finally, have DYNAMIC WEATHER! Yes, no longer will it snow all game or just show distant clouds. You could start with a sunny day and finish with a snowstorm, or vice versa. You can tell that EA seems to be finally giving us what we want in the game.
Dynasty
OVERHAUL! We have a point system that gives us complete control over our program, but here is the catch: we are also tied down to athletic director expectations. So, if you don’t, say, beat your rival or recruit your home state, then you may get shown the door. How you use your "dynasty points" will be the key to your long-term success this year. What you have to monitor varies from NIL budgets and recruiting to even keeping your facilities up to date. But it doesn’t end there; you also can now go after any coach at the end of the season or any job you may want.
As for the immersion, you can now control crowd looks and build your own stadium in Team Builder! That is going to be a fun one. Who is ready for an online dynasty of all Team Builders? The stadiums will be wild. Personally, as someone who played the game for over 500 hours last year, this is all going to make the game much more difficult and more fun for longer. The gap from Notre Dame to Sacramento State will be much larger, and you will be able to feel it without a doubt. I can't wait to grind out a mid-major to the playoffs.
Road to Glory
Now, this was the mode that felt the most bare-bones last year, so really any additions would make it better. First off, the addition of safety as a playable position is a game-changer! That is the one I know I will be locked in on. Otherwise, you are seeing a lot more depth on the player level... oh, and study up on college football history because finals are BACK!
Now we wait... one month until the game is out. I am sure there is much, much more to come. Keep your ear to the ground on Twitter for the leaks to continue to show us even more, and be ready for July 9th! Football is NEAR!
