Dbacks in Need of "System Update"

As the MLB season moves into the meat of the year, the Arizona Diamondbacks are floating along in neutral... or at least it certianly feels like. Through the first 37 games, they sit at 19–18, six games back in a very tough NL West. Also come on in 4th place at 19-18!!! I seriously want to petition a move to the AL West, ya know a good ole switch-a-roo with the Angels or something. The unbalanced nature of the two is total BS. But I’m not going to get into that right now. Let’s be positive here.

Which is freakin’ tough as of now.

I feel like I’m about to go full Frank the Tank mode watching these damn games every night. All of this potential, and instead, we’re stuck in the desert sand!

Let me drop a quick disclaimer: I’m not hating on any of the players I’m about to mention—just saying they ain’t getting the job done. So... it’s time for a change.

To start, I get that some of the big boys aren’t living up to their status either, including Gabriel Moreno, Corbin Burnes, and, until recently, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. But here’s the thing...we have big money invested in them, so the patience is there. You can’t just send them down to Triple-A.

BUT DUDE, come on with Garrett Hampson, Tim Tawa, and Jose Castillo, why are they getting so many chances? Again, not trying to be an a-hole. Yes, baseball is hard. You’re gonna have bad moments. But we’ve already sent down Jake McCarthy and Drey Jameson to reset... yet we stick with Tawa hitting .197 and not fielding well? Or Hampson hitting .167? And yeah, yeah, yeah... people will say, “But they can plug and play multiple positions!” So?!?! Ladies & Gentlemen they’ve made so many mistakes that have hurt us this season. Then there’s Castillo, who, after yesterday, is sitting with a 10.38 ERA... yet he keeps getting tossed out there because he’s a “lefty.” I don’t care if the dude can throw left AND right, if he isn’t getting people out, what’s the point? Again, the frustration is more with the higher-ups’ decision-making. I feel bad even typing this about these guys, but man, the frustration is boiling over.

At this point, you might be saying to this ranting lunatic, “Maybe they just don’t have anyone else?”

WRONG!

While we have to watch these three struggle, I get to check daily on milb.com (by the way, it’s the best rabbit hole on the internet...you can jump from the Hillsboro Hops roster to the Worcester WooSox and get stuck for hours). Anyway, while I watch the D-backs perfect their win 1 or 2, lose 1 or 2 formula, I check and see:

  • Jordan Lawlar hitting .350

  • Blaze Alexander at .299

  • Jake McCarthy slashing .430

  • Drey Jameson rocking a 1.80 ERA

All just chillin’ away in Triple-A.

Yep. Oh...and no big deal or anything but... Alexander plays both infield and outfield, McCarthy looks back to form, and Lawlar is considered by many to be a top-10 prospect in all of baseball. Do we call any of them up?

Instead, we get .197, .167, and 10.38...nightly. BRUHHHHHH....

Now, as all of this goes down, we’re heading into a 7-game stretch against the first-place Dodgers and third-place Giants... and we need a system update. Or at the least turn this shit off and on again, cause that always worked, cause this dynasty mode froze on us all of a sudden. Sometimes just a little new vibe in the locker room can give a team the jolt it needs. The talent is there! Like yeah I’ve been venting about those not living up to expectations, but on the flip side, we’ve got:

  • Corbin Carroll doing it all

  • Alek Thomas hitting well and playing elite defense

  • Josh Naylor playing great

  • Zac Gallen finally rounding into form

Lets get some new boys around them, some flash, bang, and BOOM!

We’ve got so much excitement with the new City Connects the purple, the teal, WOW! Now let’s pair that with the call-up of a top prospect and give ourselves a freakin’ reboot before it's too dang late!
