It’s only Spring Training, it’s only Spring Training… breathe… breathe… breathe. Nah, screw it...CORBIN CARROLL IS SO BACK! I know you’re already calling me crazy since we’re just a couple of weeks into Spring Training, BUT let us Diamondbacks fans have this!
Two years ago, for those who don’t know, Corbin Carroll burst onto the scene for Arizona with an amazing rookie season, leading them to an NL Pennant & a World Series appearance. He stacked postseason awards and came into 2024 with sky-high expectations...nothing new for him, as he had consistently been an MLB top prospect throughout his minor league career.
Unfortunately, though, as his second season began, he hit a huge sophomore slump. But hope came around after the All-Star break as Carroll started to look like his old self. Still, overall, the vibes were down, as he and the D-backs didn’t make the playoffs.
And now, here comes 2025. Corbin has tweaked his game a little in the offseason, and I’m doing my best not to get overly excited, but HOLY COW (Harry Caray voice)...he is BARRELING! In a small sample size of 10 ABs, he has 6 hits, 3 HRs, 8 RBIs, and 2 SBs.
LOOK at that SWING! As the youngsters say, I am totally GLAZIN’, and I don’t care. We need to celebrate our DUBs in sports more, whether it’s preseason, regular season, or postseason.
I mean, of course, if Ohtani is pitching again, it’s impossible for anyone else to win MVP, which is super lame (this may come out in another blog). Carroll, though, is the type of player who can do it all in an exciting fashion.
If this is your introduction to Corbin, oh, do I have a BIG homework assignment for you—I need a three-paragraph essay on your reactions to this beautiful display of beauty:
I could watch those on a loop ALL night long, boys. Dare I say it...I’m ready to be hurt again by my D-backs. If Carroll can perform anywhere close to his rookie-year level, this lineup is going to be deadly to face!
