Clemson & South Carolina Baseball: MUST SEE TV!

It’s now March, and I’ll get ahead of it by saying that most of my blogs are going to be wrapped up in college basketball, but this one needed to be given its flowers. Clemson & South Carolina met on the diamond this weekend, and so far, it has NOT disappointed.

Coming into the weekend matchup, South Carolina stood at 9-0 and Clemson at 7-1. A highly anticipated weekend series between two of the top programs in the nation over the past 25 years, with the advantage, of course, going to the Gamecocks, who hold multiple national championships.

The fun started right away with warmups, as the visitor bullpen was moved; in such troll fashion by the Tigers, you can’t help but love it. The student section was standing-room only before first pitch, making sure to give the starter a warm welcome to town.

Just our luck, though...the shenanigans didn’t stop there. Clemson decided, why not bring in every advantage we can? Also, yes, you’re seeing it right, they don’t even have dirt for a warning track before the fence. Gotta love college baseball!

The band at a baseball game is such a sicko mode move, and I am all here for it, boys. South Carolina came in, as I said, undefeated, thinking they were going to bring their SEC boys to the table and dominate this series...led by their mashers Ethan Petry, Nathan Hall, Jase Woita, and Clemson transfer Nolan Nawrocki. Yes, I said it!!! We have another element dropped into this already bitter rivalry. Nawrocki came into the series hitting over .320 on the season, but his old teammates didn’t give a F***.

Of course, in the 1st inning, Nawrocki comes to bat with two on and two out to face Aidan Knaak—or should I say former teammate Knaak. I mean, you gotta love how sports just gives us these moments you dream up. And of course, emotions were spilling over as Knaak sits his a** down!

If this doesn’t get you to watch some college baseball this spring, then I gotta say—you ain’t got a pulse. These are also potentially two contenders for the College World Series. They boast MLB talent and bring the energy every night. Clemson made sure to set the tone in this series over the Gamecocks, as Jarren Purify stamped the victory in Game 1.

Then on Saturday, they met at a neutral site for another Clemson win, 5-1. That’s just another freaking awesome part of this series; they played Friday at Clemson, Saturday neutral, and now tonight, they’ll finish the series at South Carolina. Damn, what a way to do it. No complaints about one team having the complete advantage in this rivalry.

The Gamecocks are home tonight at 5 PM ET, trying to avoid an embarrassing sweep from their state rival, Clemson has something that’ll hang over their heads until 2026. Though, they do still hold those nattys. Clemson, meanwhile, is hoping this series will vault them into what they hope is a national championship-contending year.
