For the love of God, Pete, just sign a deal with the Mets already. You want to be in Queens, the fans want you back, we have to finish what we started at the end of last season.
Over the weekend at the Met's Fan fest, Steve Cohen made it clear that he was not happy with the negotiating process with Alonso.

After rejecting not 1, not 2, but 3 contract offers that would have paid him between 20-30 million a year, Pete really has himself in a pickle.
Look, Pete. I get it, you're an All-Star first baseman, you have won the home derby a couple of times, you've been with the organization since you've been drafted and in all fairness, you probably are one of the best first basemen in the league (I'm bias). But if you're going to keep rejecting these $30 mill/year contracts, you're only going to dig yourself a deeper hole.
The only argument that Alonso could have here is that Cohen is literally a money tree and could just give him any contract that he wants - which is probably entirely true - and yes the Mets may need him more than he needs them in order to compete with the Dodgers, but come on man.
Scott Boras is doing an excellent job of keeping you unemployed for the 2025 season. I'm pretty sure with all the contracts that were offered, the Mets included an option after the first year to find a home elsewhere.
Come on, Pete. Do the right thing and come back to Queens. Everyone loves you despite striking out in key moments of the game, and being a complete hard-o dork most of the time, but you're our dork.
The cave of "Star Wars characters" at Barstool NY need to keep having epic streams like the entire month of October.
I can honestly say that that stretch from the middle of September through their magical run in October was probably the most fun that I've ever had as a sports fan in my adult life, and I have Pete Alonso to partially thank for that, mostly because of that home run against Milwaukee that gives me chills every time I see it.
So please Pete, do the right thing and sign with the Mets sooner than later.
Oh and while you're at it, Mr. Cohen, please bring back Jose Iglesias just to keep the vibes high in the clubhouse.
