Cam Cannarella: Must See Baseball

Every season, college baseball gives us a glimpse into who could possibly be the next big star at the MLB level. Players from both big and small schools catch the eyes of social media, and before you know it, there’s a new household name being thrown around. Well, this year, my vote is Cam Cannarella, an outfielder for Clemson. I’m telling you now, this is the best athlete you might not know of. Get with the program now, before you miss this train.

Cannarella jumped into the spotlight for many college baseball fans with his passion and play in last year’s super regional against Florida. Though they fell in that series, he went well beyond expectations to help keep them within striking distance multiple times. Fast forward to this season, and he is working his magic every weekend, helping Clemson to a #3 ranking in the nation at 36-11. Leading off for the Tigers, he’s hitting .297, and it’s his timely hits that are really catching the attention of big-league scouts. For those who like the who is his MLB look a like? Well If I had a big league comparison right now it would be Jarren Duran easily!

Some players pop with jaw-dropping numbers, others do it with clutch plays. Cannarella is a clutch player, the kind who either finds the big moment... or the big moment finds him. Last night, against another top ACC contender Florida State, on the road, Cannarella went from robbing home runs to hitting game-leading triples. And this isn’t just a one-night flash in the pan either. A couple weeks ago, during a live coach interview, he showed up snagging another home run at the fence. He’s a freak, a one-of-a-kind athlete out there in the field, and anything hit toward him has you thinking it’s his.

I’m telling ya, Cam Cannarella is the name to remember. He’s one of those players we need in Omaha this summer. And Clemson? They’ve got a legit shot at getting there too. Also, gotta throw this quick side note in...they have a pitcher with the last name Titsworth. Yes, there’s another one!
