The weekend of the big game is finally on the doorstep, or at least that is the mindset of Patriot & Seahawk fans. For hardcore stoolies, it means the end to what was a week of banger after banger, start to finish each day. It is weeks like this that make you take that step back, trying to hold how awesome this company is at giving the best content in the game.
Super Bowl week is a staple of American society as it takes over the media & its host site, almost creating a Super Bowl Village similar to the Olympics. Barstool has always taken full advantage of the melting pot of sports figures & celebrities who flock to take in the atmosphere, each year topping the last.
This year not only did we get memorable moments on The Yak each morning, including an episode with RGIII doing wine tasting with a jaguar-haired Steven Cheah, but also poor Kate(what a week for her btw too!!) almost throwing herself in traffic after picking the wrong soda. Still, as much of a true yakker as I claim to be, this was just the tip of the iceberg in the content machine of Barstool this week.
From Barstool After Dark’s flag football eggtravaganza with Jon Gruden & Matthew Berry in the booth together at one point, to Hannah Montoya’s two…yes, two!!! monumental Micropods with Doin Dawkins & RGIII with his better half, it quickly felt like a competition of who could one-up who at the Stool. I haven’t even mentioned Mark Titus pooping at Alcatraz, Klemmer’s Rat Race, or Gruden running into Rich Gannon on video…& I’m sure sooo much more!
It all came together last night with the blast-off of Season 6 of The Dozen Trivia. For those who still haven’t found their way to a live one of these shows, make room for a trip! Yet again, Jeff D Lowe & The Dozen crew knocked it out of the park. Hell I was even nervous as my audience record of three questions answered was close to falling with the dude getting two! We now wonder if Ziti winning with Hank & Security Pat could be some major motion for the Patriots as well on Sunday.
To me though, here might be the best part of it…the fun they all have. So many stoires each day about the crew going out after work was done, all clocked out & they still are who they are to the core. It shows all the fans the reality of this company is what we see each day, this isn’t trick mirrors or some kind of multiple takes acting BS. What you see is what you get, & they all love every second of it. KB put it the best way anyone could today on The Yak, as he always seems to find a way to.
If you aren’t a stoolie after a week like this, then I’m worried about your life choices. Oh yeah...and now to cap it all off, we’re getting about 20 employees fighting for their sports lives Sunday night with a Super Bowl ring on the line. Man...times like this make blogging even easier & more entertaining than I thought it already was, just reaffirming my goal to one day get to the big leagues & on the Barstool blog page! Please tell me what other company is giving you this type of content…I’ll wait…
