Barstool After Dark: Coachin' Dilemmas

As the boys on Barstool After Dark slowly grind toward 20+ hours straight of trying to achieve the pinnacle of EA College Football 2026… a national championship...yep we’re in the thick of it.

So far, through many ups and downs, they finally made a legit run to the playoffs this morning with San Diego State, but unfortunately the Aztecs met a buzzsaw in #5 Miami (FL). This happened in their 12th season of trying, and at that point they basically already gone through easily more than 5 teams during that span.

Many felt Indiana and the recruiting momentum was the spot as White boy Rick was grinding in the wee hours of the morning, but as he took a moment of rest the move to the Aztecs proved to be the first real shot at the title.

Well you see, up to this point through many heartbreaks, the room and chat had been mostly a united front, or as much as the chat can be of course due to the circumstances. The mood had quickly shifted after this SDSU run to the playoffs.

B-Walker, side note...who for those that don’t know is the named head coach of this dynasty challenge, was awarded Coach of the Year and offered the chance to take over the Michigan Wolverines....Yes those Michigan, the connor Stallions champs, who were rated 91 overall at this point. This could have been a game-changer.

BUT one major problem...

He isn’t just Tate aorund these parts...He is Ohio’s Tate!

Which means he’s going to throw down the huge chop, ax, and whatever else to halt any idea of a move to The Big House.

Of course, Lucas...who had been a major asset in the playoff run, was not happy one bit about the idea of staying at SDSU, still sitting in the 70s overall. Yes On surface a great point, as maybe it could accelerate the chances of winning a championship, adding into the fact the soon change to Heisman difficulty around the corner with Stella Blue Coffee selling off the charts for prime days.

So you may be with Lucas and the rest of crew and you’re probably screaming at Tate or thinking this is a troll job for content, or that it just doesn't matter that much its just a game.

WRONG! I'm here to say it or those in the back loudly... Tate made the right choice. 100%.

His decision is a microcosm of what makes college sports so freakin' unique.

Here he is, in the fight of his life to win a national championship, but to do so with your archrival and most hated adversary? That should be a hard no for any TRUE fan.

Ohio’s Tate not choosing Michigan is why we have this game back in our lives people, because college sports fans are crazy enough to hate another school that much.

Every true college fan has a hate list. Whether it’s Alabama, USC, Georgia, or Ohio State, or even your small school’s in-state rival, it doesn’t matter. We crave college sports because of the lines people just will not cross for the most non-sensical reasons ever that just make so much damn sense to them! Yes that is a hell of a sentence to read sorry! But it has to be said!

The point is: having these "lines in the sand" is what makes college football so damn good. It’s so intense that it should bleed into a video game. Seeing your rival win a fictitious national championship at your own hands in 2044 should be a non-negotiable.

Side Bar: I love the Barstool After Dark boys, but man… other than Lucas, y’all are not very good at this game.

I would have 100% flown out and been a ringer for you. Moving forward, if you catch a glimpse of this before a natty is won...

RUN. THE. BALL.

Good luck, and get this thing done!
