The hours count on for the After Dark crew, going into the early hours of Thursday...no bigdeal but into the third calendar day of working toward the national championship. Now in the Midwest, the heart of our country, Iowa State was looking every bit the part, with memorable plays to keep the dream alive, earning the 8 seed into the 2048–49 College Football Playoffs.

Unfortunately, the proverbial pot of gold eludes Coach Brandon Walker one more year, as TCU came into Ames and just suffocated the Cyclones from the start.

There can be no questions about this year’s run, it was nothing short of magical. No one will forget Intern Ryan’s pick-six in Morgantown(A moment going down in history), or White Boy Rick’s big-play ability.

Now, for Iowa State fans... it’s time to look forward, as this sets the stage for what’s next.

The new job in Columbus has seemed to re-energize a once-deflated crew in Ames. Walker’s staff, led by Ohio’s Tate (who, yes, is heading back home), now has the shot to complete the storyline: bringing a natty to Walker and his home state. Then you’ve got OC White Boy Rick and DC Intern Ryan, the fire, the youth, the energy this staff needs to connect with the next generation on the field.

It’s been a grueling two-plus days for the crew, but now...with Buckeye scarlet & gray filling the room, you can’t help but feel the newfound energy and buzz.

The excuse train has left the building, and the boys have their eyes on one thing and only that one thing: An Ohio State National Championship in 2050!
