From 1776 to 2026, America, in its still very young existence, has made such a deep historical impact in so many ways. Today, though, is not about anything but celebrating all that has come from our humble beginnings as colonies into the now two-time world war champs & 60-straight Super Bowl Champions we have become!
As a history buff & teacher, yes, I know this union is not a perfect one, but to those around the world, I say: be careful throwing stones in a glass house, bud! Today, though, as the hot dogs & burgers sizzle & the fireworks pop, it is important to remember all that has been sacrificed to give us the chance to celebrate, complain, and push for change as this country evolves. So, first, let us all recognize those who currently, in the past, or via their family members, fought for this freedom!
Over these 250 years, this country has given us so much to not only be proud of but also to enjoy on a daily basis. From our food to our sports, everything you experience in America can truly be one-of-a-kind. Nowhere else are you getting Saturdays in the fall with football stadiums over 100,000 strong jumping around, or a whole month centered around Madness in the spring. There is truly nothing like American sports at their finest watching your teams at their best or even their worst. In America, we get to see the Kick 6, the Jack Hughes Goal, and, 40 years before that, the Miracle on Ice.
Today is also a perfect day to throw on some of the best 4th of July movies. From The Patriot to Jaws, or 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi to Independence Day, all of them give you the feel of America in their own ways that help shape our nation's beliefs & unique love for media. I mean, who doesn't love to see the Redcoats taking an L, or the summer beaches of Cape Cod being tormented by an insanely large shark? This is what America gives us that no other place on earth can.
As we scarf down our burgers & flip on some baseball before the fireworks take off, let's just sit back and appreciate all we have around us. Here is to 250 more, America, Happy Birthday! Now, let us all show our appreciation & have one hell of a 4th to celebrate all we have in the U.S.A.!
